Botox® for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)

Botox® can also be used as an effective treatment for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) in areas such as the armpits or hands. It can be injected into sweat glands to block the nerve impulses that cause your body to sweat without affecting other nerve functions.

What is Hyperhidrosis?

Sweating is completely normal and necessary for the body to reduce heat. Severe, or excessive sweating is known as hyperhidrosis. Excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis is caused by overactivity in the sweat glands which produces sweat in greater amounts than the body actually needs. Both men and women can be affected.

Treating excessive sweating
