Botox alternative set for launch in US
01 May 2009

Health
regulators in the United States are set to give the green light to
a new product that manufacturers claim could shake-up the
non-invasive
cosmetic surgery market.
With growing numbers of women and men turning to treatments such as
Botox in a bid to combat the physical signs of
ageing, it has been revealed that new wrinkle reduction product
Dysport could be released to the public within the next few
days.
Manufacturer Ipsen has teamed up with Medicis, which already owns
popular non-invasive brands such as Restylane and Perlane, to
promote the new treatment, with research carried out by the
companies finding that it gives the same end-results as
Botox but in a quicker time.
Dr Jeffrey Adelglass, a leading cosmetic physician, added: "The
major benefits of Dysport to the cosmetic patient will be that
there are fewer injections, and treatments hopefully will last a
little longer."
News of the impending launch comes soon after the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) warned people against using treatments such as
Botox without seeking professional advice
first.
