Excessive sweating (Hyperhidrosis)
Sweating is one of the most important ways through which the
body loses heat; it is a natural and normal process. However, some
people suffer from excessive sweating, which is also known as
hyperhidrosis. These men and women find that, due to overactivity
of the eccrine sweat gland, they produce sweat in amounts far
greater than the body actually needs. As a result armpits may be
constantly damp, making everyday activities more difficult to carry
out, and causing potential embarrassment in work or social
situations. A simple and effective treatment for excessive sweating
involves a few injections into the skin where the sweating is
greatest to block the action of nerves that supply the sweat
glands, and stop the glands from producing sweat.
