Ear Correction Surgery (Otoplasty) FAQs
Who will
ear
correction
surgery benefit?
If your ears are protruding and overly prominent, and you feel
unconfident as a result, then you would benefit from ear correction
surgery. Men and women come to Transform for this type of
surgery.
How is ear correction surgery done?
To correct protruding or prominent ears, a surgeon will remove
excess cartilage that is causing the ear to stick out. The ear is
then pinned back along the fold into its new position.
How long will ear correction surgery take?
Ear correction surgery can be performed under local anaesthetic
(you will be awake and the area numbed) and you can return home
without an overnight stay if you prefer. Alternatively, the
operation can be performed under general anaesthetic and you can
stay overnight in the comfort of your local Transform clinic.

What results can I expect from ear correction surgery?
Post-surgery, you can expect to have ears that do not protrude,
and lend a balanced and symmetrical effect to your face. Click here to see before and after pictures of ear
correction surgery.
How long is the recovery period from ear correction
surgery?
You will be required to wear a full head bandage for up to 1
week after surgery. A headband or head bandage will be need at
night for a further 2 weeks. Your ear/s will be swollen and red for
several weeks. We recommend at least a 1 week holiday from work for
ear correction surgery patients.
Are there any after effects to ear correction surgery?
The ear/s will be sore, red, and bruised for some weeks after
ear correction surgery. This discomfort can be easily resolved with
painkillers. Normal hair washing can be resumed once full bandages
are removed, after 1 week usually.
Aside from normal, post-surgery discomfort, you should not
experience side effects from ear correction surgery. If anything
abnormal is happening, you are encouraged to get in touch with the
clinic as soon as possible so we can see if there is any problem is
and, if so, put it right straight away. We offer a comprehensive
and extensive post-operative care programme, which includes
detailed post-operative instructions and follow-up appointments
with your surgeon at your local Transform clinic to ensure a speedy
recovery, all at no additional cost. Find out
more about our comprehensive aftercare programme here.
Are there risks associated with ear correction surgery?
Transform has performed more cosmetic surgery than any other
provider in the UK. As such, we are extremely experienced; there is
no provider better placed to help you become more confident through
cosmetic surgery. However, as with all operations, there are some
risks associated with ear correction surgery. Your surgeon can help
put you at ease regarding any worries you may have. You can talk
through these concerns at your free
consultation.
Can I combine ear correction surgery with other
procedures?
We don’t offer specific packages to combine with ear correction
surgery. However you may like to compliment their new, better
proportioned face with other corrective surgery, such as cheek implants, chin
implants or dental implants to give
further definition to the face, or a facelift (or mini-facelift) to achieve a fresher-looking face
with tauter skin.
Of course you may feel that you would like to improve another
part of your body, aside from the face. Explore our procedures and
