Liposuction methods available at Transform
We offer traditional surgical liposuction as well as the latest, less invasive ‘smart lipo’ procedures laser lipo and CoolSculpt.
Our liposuction methods page gives more details of each procedure and the areas it’s most effective for. However, for larger areas of body fat like the abdomen, thighs and buttocks, surgical liposuction is generally the most suitable option.
Why consider liposuction?
Many people choose to have liposuction because sometimes even the strictest diet and exercise regime just can’t shift stubborn fat or tackle an uneven body shape. Depending on the area and amount of body fat to be removed, liposuction, laser lipo or CoolSculpt can help to even out your body proportions or slim a particular area.

The benefits of liposuction/liposculpture
Liposculpture is an excellent way to shape, tone and contour specific body areas. Your body won’t replace the fat cells removed from these areas, so each method of liposuction can deliver a long-lasting change to your body shape. Do be aware that liposuction won’t remove cellulite or stretch marks and shouldn’t be considered a weight loss method; there is a limit to the amount of fat that can be removed.

Surgical liposuction - what the procedure involves
Liposuction usually takes between one and three hours, depending upon the amount of fat to be removed. Surgical liposuction can be done under local anaesthetic for smaller areas but it more often requires a general anaesthetic, so you may need to stay overnight in one of our purpose built Transform hospitals.
Your surgeon will inject a salt water solution into the fatty area to be treated to break up the fat before inserting a thin metal tube called a cannula into the area. The fat is sucked out via the cannula using a vacuum pump (liposuction) or a syringe (liposculpture). The tube may need to be inserted a few more times to remove all the fat. The small incisions made often do not require any stitches so will heal by themselves and be unnoticeable in time.
The area treated will be bruised and swollen for a few weeks and you’ll need to wear an elasticated support garment during this time. For more information about recovering from liposuction, please see our liposuction recovery page.
Side effects, risks and complications
Liposuction is considered a straightforward procedure, but as with any kind of surgery there is the risk of rare complications. We’ll talk to you about these before you decide to go ahead and if you have any specific concerns, don’t hesitate to talk to your surgeon about them.
Liposuction cprices vary depending on your own individual needs; for guidance prices typically start at £2,770 and this includes all your pre-operative care and our comprehensive 3-year aftercare programme.
