How is facial thread vein removal done?
Intense Pulse Light treatment can eliminate damaged veins and
capillaries by targeting the light energy on the facial veins. The
light energy is absorbed by the haemoglobin and converted to heat
energy. Blood coagulates and the vessel wall collapses. In time the
vessel is broken down and absorbed by the body. Facial thread veins
should never be injected with sclerosing agents that are only for
treating leg veins. Following consultation and a compulsory patch
test 48 hours before initial treatment begins, the procedure is
simple and effective. Eye shields are worn by patient and
practitioner and gel applied to the area. The IPL is emitted using
the most appropriate settings. Following treatment the area is
cooled with ice packs.
Veinwave is a new treatment for thread vein removal available
exclusively at our Glasgow clinic. A
revolutionary technique for fine thread veins/telangiectasia and
rosacea, it is unique in its use of microwave to heat the vessels
utilising very high frequency energy, resulting in
their disappearance over a two / three week period. This
process is known as thermo-coagulation. Veinwave utilises an
ultrafine insulated needle which allows accurate application at the
treatment site whilst protecting the skin and surrounding tissue.
It can be applied to all areas of the body even knees and ankles
that can be difficult to treat. No bandages are required and normal
activity can be resumed after treatment. The sensation is
likened to that of an elastic band being snapped.

There should not be any serious after effects. Following
treatment the area may appear pink and slightly swollen, which is
normal. The thread veins treated will over the next few hours
become darker in appearance before they disappear completely. Again
this is normal.
