January always inspires us to make a change. The New Year, New Me mantra kicks in, and we dedicate ourselves to pledging our New Year resolutions for the months ahead. From dry January and renewing our gym memberships, to body cleansing diets, we all love to re-invent ourselves.
With the party season coming to an end, our naughty habits over the festive period start to show, most visibly from the effects late nights and party environments have on our skin. However, with our hectic lives, the idea of a skin health overhaul can seem overwhelming. We want something that is convenient, time efficient and most importantly effective.
By tweaking your skin care routine during 2018, you can detox those impurities and resurrect your skin to better health. Our range of New Year skin treatment hacks can give you that extra boost and help your skin feel amazing.
Skin peels or chemical peels encourage healthy skin cell growth, rejuvenating the skin around your eyes, neck and facial region. Peels help to restore the skin and treat a range of skin conditions including acne, pigmentation, acne scarring, dry/oily skin, sun damage and lines and wrinkles.
There are different variations of peels dependant on your skin’s requirement. The overall result is characteristically reliant on the kind of peel used. For example; its potency/strength, how deep they penetrate the skin, the length of time the peel is left on for and the time to recover post treatment.
Peel Range: Epionce Lite Refresh, Epionce Corrective & Obagi Blue Radiance
Treatment Procedure: Typically, your skin will be cleansed and the peel is applied onto the area to be treated and is left for 5-10 minutes (dependant on which peel is used) before being removed with a neutralising solution. This is followed by applying a hydration cream and a sun protector.
Areas: Face, neck, chest, décolletage & back
What does it feel like: You only feel a mild tingling sensation.
Recovery time: There is very little recovery time. Typically, the skin can be a little bit pink with some mild flaking to be expected.
How many treatments: These Peels generally need to be repeated once a fortnight for 6 weeks to gain the best results (unless advised differently by your practitioner). Maintenance treatments are recommended once every 4-6 weeks.
Post-treatment Advice: Your practitioner will advise you on skin care products and their use.
Results: The skin will show a visible difference in the reduction of blemishes/scarring, the skin will also be less congested and fine lines and wrinkles should reduce. Overall your skin will be left feeling rejuvenated, smoother and even in skin tone.
Treatment cost: Single treatment starts at £60. Course of treatment from £300.
Microdermabrasion is an effective exfoliating treatment that acts to restore the skin’s tone and texture. A microdermabrasion is beneficial for those who want to remove brown spots, mild acne scars, sun-damaged skin and fine lines/wrinkles. It can also help prevent clogged pores and reduce appearance of blackheads and whiteheads.
Treatment Procedure: Microdermabrasion is performed by a brasion wand with diamond tips to achieve healthier skin. The pen is used to remove the dead and damaged cells by removing the top layers of the skin, revealing youthful, softer and radiant skin. Following the treatment, your practitioner will apply a barrier cream and a sun protector.
Areas: Face, neck, chest, décolletage & back
What does it feel like: Feels slightly scratchy but it’s not uncomfortable.
Best used for: Microdermabrasion appeals to all and is suitable for all skin types. It is appealing to those who want a fast recovery time, as they can return to work or daily activities immediately following the treatment.
Recovery time: You may appear somewhat rosy and red after the treatment, although this will begin to fade after half an hour.
How many treatments: A course of Microdermabrasion treatments vary and treatment can be performed between once every fortnight, monthly and / or every 6 weeks. Your practitioner will direct you in terms of how many you may need.
Post-treatment Advice: Your practitioner will advise you on skin care products that will complement the treatment.
Results: Once dead and damaged skin cells have been removed, the skin immediately feels and looks smoother, fresher and healthier.
Treatment cost: Single treatment starts at £55. Course of treatments starts from £275.
