Your Summer Treatment Guide | Ask Mamuna

Mamuna from our York Street clinic in Manchester tells us…

‘Whether we are seeking to firm, tone, repair or restore, we all want to look and feel amazing – fuelling our desire to seek out the best treatments on offer and find out what works and what doesn’t.

The medical aesthetics industry is continuing to grow as new and improved technologies are developed to re-shape, tighten, lift and soften imperfections. Clinics are constantly bringing out exciting and innovative procedures, techniques and products to meet our growing needs.’

Medical aesthetics and skincare expert, Senior Aesthetician Mamuna, tells us more about what’s trending this summer:

TREND #1: Coolsculpting

CoolSculpting currently leads the way with proven results! Coolsculpting is championed by the likes of Debra Messing (Will & Grace), Kristin Davis (Sex and the City), Kris Jenner, Khloe Kardashian and more recently Sonja Morgan, television personality on The Real Housewives of New York City.

Here’s what we know: surgical options such as liposuction or a tummy tuck may not always be the answer, especially for those who already have a healthy body weight. So, what can you do? Well, if you haven’t heard of it already, CoolSculpting offers a unique alternative to shifting stubborn areas of fat on the body without the need for surgery and without any downtime, so you can get back to your life straight away.

It helps to contour the body by freezing and eliminating unwanted areas of fat without the downtime of surgical procedures. Based on Cryolipolysis® technology, CoolSculpting is the only FDA cleared fat-freezing treatment, which is designed to reduce stubborn, exercise-resistant fat up to 27%.

TREND #2: Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Dermal fillers can be used to subtly improve the shape of the nose and although not permanent, it is a less-expensive option than traditional cosmetic surgery. Though non-surgical nose jobs can’t make a nose smaller, they can, however, help correct imperfections and smooth out bumps and ridges.

Most dermal fillers have a local anaesthetic called lidocaine that makes the injections very comfortable during the 30-minute treatment. If required, a follow-up treatment may be required.

TREND #3: Facial Profiling

Anti-wrinkle injections have revolutionised facial reshaping. A favourite for make-up artists and social media influencers, jawline contouring allows for tweaking the shape of the face without the need for surgical intervention and offers zero downtime. The procedure is also quick, easy and comfortable.

This technique can result in a slimmer profile and the facial features appear more youthful, while the skin will look rejuvenated and healthier. In my opinion, this treatment is suitable for a square-shaped jawline and/or plump cheeks.

TREND #4: PDO Lift

The PDO Thread Lift is a treatment which lifts and tightens sagging skin tissue, using threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO). The threads are introduced into the deeper layers of the skin. This treatment can last between 12-18 months.

About 6 months, the PDO threads will disappear through simple hydrolysis (they are absorbable). The lifted facial contours will remain for about 3-6 months more due to cellular rejuvenation. Your skin cells are stimulated to produce new collagen. At the same time, the PDO threads cause the fat tissue to contract, producing a skin tightening and facial slimming effect.

TREND #5: #NoMakeUpSelfie

We’re talking about treatments and products that give the face a flawless appearance with a naturally luminous and radiant glow, leaving a renewed version of your true self.

Chemical peels and skin rejuvenation are one of the fastest-growing medical aesthetics treatments in the UK. The treatment offers a non-invasive approach to improving the appearance of the skin and can take care of a whole range of skin conditions and concerns.

The art of chemical peeling promotes healthier skin and help to restore and re-condition all skin types including wrinkles, acne, dry skin, oily skin, acne scarring, lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, frown lines, sun damage and brining life to skin that is dull in appearance.

TREND #6: Microneedling

Our EDS & Growth Factor Facial System are minimally invasive treatments which are intended to improve the skin tone and texture and combat the ongoing effects of the visible signs of ageing. This treatment also helps to reduce the appearance of scarring, sun damage and pigmentation.

Our controlled microneedling involves the formation of micro-channels or tiny minute punctures in the skin using small needles, which is followed by the appliance of a topical serum, tailored to meet your specific skincare needs. The micro-needling system promotes the stimulation of collagen and elastin production, whilst also rejuvenating and repairing skin tissue.

TREND #7: Innovative skincare

Consumers worldwide are more and more conscious of the effects and impact of their purchasing choices on a number of things including the environment, our health and on a positive body image.

Technology and innovation are the keywords in the medical aesthetics industry. Looking for innovative skincare is on the rise and here, at Transform the Obagi and Epionce range of products are at the forefront of clinical research and offer excellent and often immediate results.

TREND #8: Zapp unwanted hair

The need to rid unwanted hair is as old as time itself! However, today’s laser technology is advanced and pain-free, and our machines are at the forefront of getting you the results you want. Laser hair removal can be used almost anywhere on the body and is suitable for all skin types and with regular top-up treatments long-lasting results can be achieved.

So, how does it work? The procedure is designed to destroy the base of the hair follicle that is the source of new hair growth, making the treated hair fall out without damaging the surrounding tissue. Our laser technology is also suited to all skin types.
