What Is Breast Enlargement?

Breast enlargement surgery is known by many names: breast augmentation, breast enhancement, mammoplasty or just simply “a boob job”. It is one of the most regularly performed procedures in the UK, and usually involves the insertion of implants under the breast tissue.

This will increase the size and/or change the shape of your breasts.

You can rest assured that, at Transform, a breast enlargement is not only a commonly performed procedure, but it will also be carried out by a highly experienced surgeon who will be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF Breast Enlargement

Breast augmentation aims to enhance the size and shape of the breasts by giving them a fuller and more contoured look. There are many reasons you might choose to have this surgery.

You may want to restore breast volume that you’ve lost due to weight loss, pregnancy, breast feeding or aging. You may not be happy with the shape of your breasts, and want to create a more contoured shape. For some women, asymmetrical breasts can cause distress; this can be rectified by inserting implants of different sizes, which create more balanced and symmetrical contours

Following surgery, you might find that you prefer the way you look in your clothes, and it can open up a whole new range of outfits to choose from, tooThe effect that being happier with the way you look can never be underestimatedTo quote one of our breast augmentation patients, feeling better on the outside can mean you feel better on the inside – her boob job was a real boost to her self-esteem and confidence.

Is breast enlargement right for me?

Women choose to have breast enlargements for many reasons. This surgery would be most suitable if you have small breasts, asymmetrical breasts or breasts that have lost their shape or size after pregnancy and/or weight loss.

While there’s no right or wrong reason for choosing to have breast augmentation, we’d always recommend that you carry out plenty of research beforehand. Speak to friends and family who have had breast surgery themselves to hear about their experience, and, of course, you can ask any questions you like during your surgical consultation with us

You need to be at least 18 to be considered for breast enhancement surgery. This is because your body goes through many changes as you age, and so it should be fully developed before you pursue treatmentWe also recommend that you have a healthy BMI and no serious health conditions, have realistic goals for surgery and that you feel mentally ready for the procedure.

Are breast implants safe?
Breast implants have an exceptional safety record and have been used in over a million procedures worldwide. Rest assured that we only use the safest breast implants in the cosmetic surgery industry, and all our surgeons are General Medical Council registered with high levels of experience and skill. When you come to us for your breast enlargement, you’ll have access to a two-year aftercare program as standard, with the option to extend by up to three years for extra peace of mind. If you have any other questions or concerns about the safety of breast augmentation surgery, then our surgeons will be happy to talk to you more about this.
How long will my breast implants last?
Breast implants are not designed to last forever, but they don’t have a specific lifespan. Most surgeons say it’s wise to have your implants replaced between 10 to 20 years after the original procedure. Even if you’ve not experienced any problems, we recommend getting your implants checked over by a surgeon around 10 years after your surgery to make sure everything’s still okay.
Can I have a breast uplift with my breast enlargement surgery?
Yes, many women choose to combine the two procedures and have a breast lift at the same time as their enlargement. Surgeons may recommend this if your breasts have lost volume and you want to lift them, while also increasing the size.
How old do you have to be to have breast implants?
In the UK, the youngest age for breast implants to be considered is 18 years old. The breast augmentation age limit is to ensure that breasts have fully grown and developed naturally before any surgery is undertaken.
