A hair, eye brow or facial hair transplant is a surgical technique which takes healthy hair follicles from one area of the head and implants them on to bald or thinning areas. Whether you’ve noticed that your hair is thinning on top, or you have a receding hairline, hair transplants can be very successful in restoring the natural hairline. A transplant can stop hair loss completely for both men and women.
Every person with hair loss has their own individual experience, from the age they first start to experience it to the speed at which their hair thins or recedes.
There are many factors which cause hair loss, but the most common are:
• Genetic male pattern baldness
• Sudden weight loss
• A poor diet
• Low iron levels
We provide two types of hair transplant surgery, and both are performed under local anaesthetic, meaning that your treatment can be completed in a Transform hospital in one day with no overnight stay needed.
This treatment is sometimes known as “strip harvesting”. An area of healthy hair is transplanted onto an area of hair loss to stimulate hair growth, and you should start to see results a few months after treatment. FUT is suitable for people with longer hair, and it’s usually carried out in one half-day session.
This form of hair transplant takes individual hair follicles from the back of the scalp. Fine incisions are made in the area of hair loss or thinning hair, and the follicle is inserted. It’s different from FUT in that there is no linear scarring, but there are smaller, individual scars and so it can be more suitable for those who wear their hair short. There’s also a comparably shorter downtime for this procedure.
The transplanted area may feel sore for a few days, so we recommened taking a few days off work whilst your scalp heals. Before you leave hospital:
• We’ll talk to you about how to look after the treated area at home
• You’ll receive medication
• You’ll be advised to make a follow-up appointment to check your progress
We advise against washing your hair within 48 hours, and you should avoid strenuous activity during that time too.
Your surgeon may advise you to have further reviews at 3, 6 and 12 months. We’ll also provide you with our 24/7 patient helpline number to call in case you have any concerns.
Simply fill in the form and one of our friendly team will be in touch shortly.
