As a responsible provider of cosmetic surgery, we understand that each individual's procedure is different and will be tailored specifically around the patient. Because of this, we place a great deal of importance on our free face-to-face, no obligation consultations. Following our consultation process your patient advisor will provide a detailed pricing overview around the particular procedure. Please view our pricing and finance page to read more about our flexible credit options, available via our partnership with a specialist financial provider. More info here.
During vaginal tightening surgery, your surgeon will shorten the stretched tissues at the back of your vagina and pelvic floor muscles, as well as removing of any excess skin.
The procedure takes around an hour to perform and your surgeon will advise whether you’ll need a general or local anaesthetic. If you have a general anaesthetic, you should expect to spend a night in one of our hospitals before recovering at home.
You should expect the internal and external surrounding area of your vagina to be quite swollen and sore after surgery. However, we will give you pain relief while in hospital and will also advise you on managing the discomfort when you return home. An ice pack, wrapped in cloth so that it is not too cold, may also give you some relief.
We advise taking a week off work following surgery, and you should expect to notice the results of your vaginal tightening after around 2-3 weeks. Should you have any concerns during your recovery, you will have access to our 24/7 nursing team, so you will always have someone to hand.
The first step is to meet your female patient advisor. You’ll be able to talk to them in confidence about why you’re considering vaginal tightening surgery, the likely costs and finance options, how much time you’ll probably need to take off work, and when you’d like to have the surgery. If you feel ready, we’ll then book you in for your free consultation with one of our surgeons.
At your free consultation, your surgeon will ask you about the results you want to achieve from the surgery. You can discuss every aspect of vaginal tightening without embarrassment and talk about any worries you might have – such as the effects on sexual experience and future childbirth, the benefits and risks – with no obligation to go ahead. Our surgeons are extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions you have. If you feel ready to go ahead and book your surgery, they’ll then refer you to a clinic nurse who’ll perform some pre-op tests and procedures.
Your surgeon will advise whether you’ll need a general or local anaesthetic. If you have a general anaesthetic, you may need to stay overnight in one of our Transform hospitals. On the day of your surgery, you’ll meet with your surgeon so you can go through the consent form and ask any last-minute questions. You’ll then be introduced to the rest of your surgical team before going into theatre. During the one-hour procedure, your surgeon will join and shorten the stretched muscles at the back of your vagina with dissolvable stitches and remove any excess skin. This tightens the vaginal muscles and surrounding soft tissues, making the diameter of your vagina smaller. Any scars will be internal and, whilst it’s important to have realistic expectations, you can expect your vagina to regain most of its pre-pregnancy tone.
We’ll be here throughout the recovery process to help you recuperate quickly and safely. You’ll be looked after by the same nurse and surgeon throughout your hospital stay, who will ensure your comfort and privacy at all times. If you have a general anaesthetic you may need to stay in hospital overnight, or if you have a local anaesthetic you may be able to return home the same day. Your surgeon will check that you’re properly recovered from the operation before discharging you. At this stage, you’ll feel very sore from your operation and won’t be able to drive, so you’ll need to make sure that you’ve made arrangements to get home. Before you leave hospital, we’ll give you our 24/7 patient helpline number if you need to speak to a member of our clinical team.
We believe that the highest quality aftercare is just as important as the surgery itself, so we’re here to support you. You’ll need to give your body plenty of time to heal and we’ll give you detailed guidance on the best way to do this. After surgery, you’ll be sore but should be able to walk comfortably after a few days. We recommend taking a week off work to make a full recovery, and after two to three weeks you should be able to feel the results of your vaginal tightening. You’ll have a post-op check to ensure that everything is healing properly, and your surgeon will advise when you’re able to resume sexual activity. If you have any questions or concerns at all, you can contact our 24/7 helpline. All patients have access to our three-year aftercare programme as standard and you’ll have the option to extend cover to up to 10 years
