Lips, lips, lips – ever since Kylie Jenner fessed up to getting a little help with her full and voluptuous pair, here at Transform, we’ve been inundated with lip filler enquiries.
Full and defined lips are very desirable and currently, very popular. For some, they are the epitome of glamour and beauty, for others, full lips can balance out other facial features and give them the look they are after.
Want full, luscious lips?
Not all of us are blessed with full luscious lips – some have naturally thin lips while others have lost volume and definition through the natural ageing process.
If you’ve always had thin lips, there are lots of products on the market which can help create a more fuller look such as lip plumpers and various topical treatments but these types of products don’t tend to last longer than a couple of hours.
Over time lips show signs of ageing by appearing thinner and flatter. The lip corners can drop down and the cupid's bow becomes less defined.
If you feel that your lips could do with a little help in the plumping department but you want the effect to last longer than a couple of hours, a temporary dermal lip filler treatment could be the answer – results are pretty instant and effects can last up to 12 months.
What are temporary dermal lip fillers?
All the temporary dermal lip fillers we offer here at Transform are made up with Hyaluronic acid which is great for restoring natural hydration and plumpness to the area being treated.
It may sound scary but Hyaluronic acid is actually a naturally occurring substance found in our bodies.
This treatment is done via a series of injections to the lip area. The treatment, on average, takes about 30 minutes and there’s no downtime. Patients may be a little red and swollen in the lip area but this will soon subside.
The product will eventually dissolve into the body and is completely safe to use.
What will lip fillers do for me?
Lip fillers are great for improving the definition and shape of lips, they can very subtly plump up lips, balance out unequal lips and smooth and fill out lines caused by smoking.
We see lots of patients who feel that their looks are being compromised by their lips, be they thin or undefined.
This treatment is great for restoring volume to lip area and the majority of patients we see, are very happy with their treatment and go on to become regular patients.
The treatment is only temporary and depending on the patient and the product being used, the effect can last up to a year.
Does it hurt?
The lip area is very delicate and sensitive so there will be some level of discomfort.
Before the treatment, a topical anaesthetic will be applied to gently numb the lips. This will kick in after about 20 mins, after which you’ll be ready for your treatment.
Everyone has a different pain threshold but in the main, patients find this treatment uncomfortable but bearable.
It’s definitely not for someone who has a phobia or fear of needles.
Juvederm range at Transform
At Transform, we use and favour the Juvederm range of temporary dermal fillers. The two products we use on the lips are Juvederm Volbella and Juvederm Ultra Smile.
They also help the practitioner achieve natural looking results as they inject more smoothly into the lips and patients experience less swelling than with other products. They also contain Lidocaine which is a mild anaesthetic making the treatment more bearable for patients.
