The treatment generally takes under 30 minutes, and you can usually get back to everyday life straight away.
Over exposure to the sun, smoking, city living, squinting at monitors and, of course, the ageing process all take their toll on your skin. As you get older, your face starts to develop fine lines and wrinkles as collagen and elastin fibres break down, causing skin to lose its strength and smoothness.
Botox® blocks the nerve impulses to the muscles so they relax and can’t contract. This causes lines and wrinkles to soften.
At Transform, all Botox® treatments are carried out by either a practitioner or fully qualified nurse.
You’ll need to avoid tilting your head forwards for a few hours and shouldn’t exercise for 24 hours after the procedure. You can take ordinary painkillers to relieve any temporary discomfort you might have around the site of the injections.
It takes a little while for your muscles to relax completely, so the results are not immediate. You’ll see the difference between five days to two weeks after your treatment.
This will vary from person to person, but it’s usually between three and four months. We usually recommend having a top-up treatment every four months.
The first step is to meet your patient advisor. You’ll be able to talk to them about why you’re considering wrinkle treatment, whether Botox® would be right for you, the likely costs and finance options, and when you’d like to have the treatment. If you feel ready, we’ll then book you in for your free consultation with one of our professional practitioners or nurses.
At your free consultation, your professional practitioner or nurse will ask you about the results you want to achieve. They’ll guide you through your treatment options and create a personal anti-ageing treatment plan for you to ensure you achieve the best results. It may be that we’ll recommend an alternative treatment type – like chemical facial peels, microdermabrasion or skin tightening – that we think will better suit your needs. As Botox® is a prescription-only medicine, we’ll also need to go through your medical history to be sure it’s suitable for you. You can discuss every aspect of your wrinkle treatment with no obligation to go ahead. Our practitioners and nurses are extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions you have. If you feel ready to go ahead, we can book your treatment in for a date and time that suits you.
On the day of your treatment, you’ll be able to go through any last-minute questions with your practitioner or nurse. They’ll apply a numbing cream to the areas where the Botox® is going to be injected. Once it’s taken effect, your practitioner will use a very fine needle to carefully complete the series of small injections. This usually takes about 30 minutes in total and, although it may be a little uncomfortable, it shouldn’t hurt. The injections temporarily relax the facial muscles to smooth out lines and wrinkles. Your treatment may involve injections to the forehead, in between the eyebrows, crow’s feet or other areas, as agreed with your practitioner.
You’ll be able to leave the clinic as soon as your treatment has been completed, and you should be fine to go about your normal day-to-day activities. You’ll just need to avoid tilting your head forwards for a while and avoid exercise for the next 24 hours. If you experience soreness in your face, you can take painkillers to ease the discomfort. It can take up to a few days for the muscles to relax and for you to see the results.
We believe that the highest quality aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself, so we’re here to support you. If you have any questions or concerns at all, you can contact our 24/7 helpline. Line and wrinkle treatments can be very effective and last up to four months, depending on the patient. After your initial treatment, the effects of future treatments should last longer as your muscles are already trained to relax. If you're looking to maintain a youthful and rejuvenated appearance, a top-up treatment is usually recommended every four months.
