PDO Thread Lifts

As we age, our skin naturally begins to weaken due to a loss in elastic tissue (elastin) which results in loose skin around the mouth, jowl, cheek and neck area. PDO thread lifts are designed to help restore your facial structure by lifting and tightening the skin to reduce the visible signs of ageing without surgery. At Transform, we can create a personalised treatment plan to help you achieve the look you want.

Often referred to as the ‘lunchtime facelift’, the PDO thread-lifting treatment is a quick and simple procedure involving the introduction of threads via a cannula (thin tube) beneath the skin attaching the threads to surrounding tissue. These threads anchor the tissue to lift the face almost instantly, and because no incisions are made there will be no lasting scarring and downtime is minimal.

The PDO (Polydioxanone) threads used not only help to tighten the skin, but can also stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which are important in restoring the plumpness of the skin and stimulating wrinkle reduction.

PDO Thread Lifts FAQs

PDO threads can be used to treat sagging skin in the forehead, eyebrow area, eye bags, jowls, cheeks, neck and mouth area.

PDO threads are suitable for both men and women aged 18+ experiencing sagging, loose or excess skin. If you are looking for a minimally invasive, relatively pain-free treatment which can help restore your natural facial structure and tighten the skin then this could be a great solution.

The thread-lifting treatment offers a surgery-free alternative to the traditional facelift, only requiring local anesthetic and with very little downtime. The results are also visible immediately after the treatment and continue to improve in the following weeks.

A tiny entry is made behind the ear and the threads are inserted via a cannula along the marked contours and are attached to the tissue. Once the threads are in place the body produces new collagen around the thread, which helps to create a subtle and natural-looking lifting effect

Threads used in a PDO thread lift are made from polydioxanone – a biodegradable material used for medical stitches which dissolves naturally within the body. The threads are generally fully dissolved 9 months following your treatment.

Known as the ‘lunchtime facelift’ the thread-lifting treatment takes under an hour to complete. This is dependent on the number of threads used in your treatment.

Thread lift results often vary from patient to patients, but typically last from 12-18 months. It is possible to have the treatment again once the previous threads are fully dissolved.

You may experience some bruising and puckering, which is completely normal and can last up to 14 days following your treatment. Arnica tablets can help reduce the amount of bruising and swelling.

We would advise you to wash your face carefully and avoid face cream and make up for the first 48 hours. Also avoid hot drinks and hard foods for the first 1-3 weeks. To achieve optimal results sleep in an upright position to reduce swelling for the first 3-7 days, avoid strenuous exercise and do not consume alcohol or expose yourself to heat including sun beds or saunas for 7 days.
