IPL skin rejuvenation is designed to help reduce the appearance of a number of specific skin problems. If you’re concerned about sun damage, age pigmentation, acne, or fine lines and wrinkles, this treatment could help restore the condition of your skin.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment provides short bursts of high intensity light to stimulate collagen and volumise the skin. Clients often require a course of treatments to rejuvenate the skin tone and improve the condition of the skin. It is an ideal treatment for sun-damaged and tired skin. As well as being able to reduce the appearance of sun spots and damage, it is also effective at softening and reducing the appearance of acne, rosacea, birthmarks, thread veins and age pigmentation spots.

What they both do: Use light that heats up the hair follicle and destroys it. Take approximately 6-8 treatments to achieve complete hair reduction. Provide longer lasting results for patients looking to remove hair versus other traditional options such as plucking, waxing or shaving. The difference between the two is quite simple: IPL (or Intense Pulse Light treatment) goes to more depth and intensity to destroy the hair follicle. However, because of this additional intensity, it means that it may only be suitable for those with a lighter skin type. Laser hair removal on the other hand can work with darker skin. IPL technology can also be used to treat a variety of skin conditions including thread veins, sun spots and rosacea
IPL technology is a type of laser that generates intense bursts of red or blue light. These heat the dermal tissue without harming or removing the outer epidermal layers of the skin. The body’s natural processes then work to break down and remove these marks. The appearance of any skin imperfection can then be visibly reduced.
A cooling gel is first applied to the area to be treated and you’ll be asked to wear protective eyewear. A state-of-the-art Lumenis One or Quantum IPL machine is then gently applied. This delivers precise pulses of light that may help eliminate the pigment or imperfection without damaging surrounding tissue.
The treatment is pain-free but you may experience a slight tingling sensation and have some redness after for an hour or so. Each treatment takes around 20 minutes and you will be able to leave the clinic immediately after your session.
We recommend a top-up treatment once or twice a year to maintain your desired results. Around 6 treatments at 3-6 week intervals is usually required.
IPL can be effective in itself but a combination of treatments could enhance results further. Other treatments which may give firmer, younger-looking skin include microdermabrasion and facial peels. Deep lines or wrinkles might also benefit from line and wrinkle smoothing or dermal fillers treatment.
When you come to Transform, the entire experience is designed around you and your needs. We’ll listen carefully to your aspirations for being the best you, and you’ll receive all the advice and support you need throughout your journey with us. Here’s a step-by-step guide to what you can expect.
The first step is to meet your patient advisor. You’ll be able to talk to them about why you’re considering skin rejuvenation treatment, whether IPL would be right for you, the likely costs and finance options, and when you’d like to have the treatment. If you feel ready, we’ll then book you in for your free consultation with one of our professional practitioners or nurses.
At your free consultation, your professional practitioner or nurse will ask you about the results you want to achieve. They’ll guide you through your treatment options and create a personal skin rejuvenation treatment plan for you to ensure that you achieve the best results. IPL can be effective alone, but a combination of treatments could enhance results further. Other treatments that can give firmer, younger-looking skin include microdermabrasion and facial peels. Deep lines or wrinkles might also benefit from line and wrinkle smoothing or dermal fillers treatment. You can discuss every aspect of your treatment with no obligation to go ahead. Our practitioners and nurses are extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions you have. If you feel ready to go ahead, we can book your treatment in for a date and time that suits you.
On the day of your treatment, you’ll be able to go through any last-minute questions with your practitioner or nurse. A cooling gel is first applied to the area to be treated and you’ll be asked to wear protective eyewear. A state-of-the-art Lumenis One or Quantum IPL machine is then gently applied. This delivers precise pulses of light that can help to reduce the pigment or imperfection without damaging surrounding tissue. Each treatment takes around 20 minutes. During the treatment you may experience a slight tingling sensation.
You’ll be able to leave the clinic as soon as your treatment has been completed, and you should be fine to go about your normal day-to-day activities. You may experience some redness for an hour or so after treatment.
We believe that the highest quality aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself, so we’re here to support you. If you have any questions or concerns at all, you can contact our 24/7 helpline. Regular treatments can keep your skin looking young and fresh. Around six treatments at three to six weekly intervals are usually required initially. We also recommend a top-up treatment once or twice a year to maintain your desired results.
