Tackle troublesome fat with a non-invasive, pain-free treatment like CoolSculpting

Is CoolSculpting body contouring right for me?

Want to get rid of stubborn fat pockets that are getting you down, but too squeamish for surgery? Then CoolSculpting could well be what you’re looking for…

This surgery-free body contouring treatment (also sometimes known as ‘fat freezing’, ‘cryolipolysis’ or ‘lipo freeze’), can help banish fatty deposits in areas like the chin, arms, hips, stomach, thighs, back and buttocks*, with no needles, incisions or anaesthetic required.

You might want to give CoolSculpting fat freezing a try if:

  • You’re sick of small areas of unsightly fat effecting your confidence;
  • You’ve tried exercising and dieting to shift stubborn deposits – but they won’t
  • You’re determined to do something positive to improve the way you feel about your body, but don’t want to go as far as having an actual operation.

Here are a few things you should know about this treatment:

  • As it’s a non-surgical procedure, it takes less than two hours to complete and there’s no recovery time needed – that means you can get straight back to enjoying everyday life as soon as you leave the clinic.
  • Got a special occasion that you want to look your best for? Bear in mind that it takes around two to three months for you to see the full results of CoolSculpting – so make sure you get it booked well in advance!
  • At Transform, we also offer an alternative body contouring treatment called Aqualyx® (see ‘More details on body contouring’ section), as well as liposuction, a surgical procedure that’s better at treating larger fatty areas.

CoolSculpting costs will vary depending on your personal requirements. We’ll be able to give you an accurate cost for your treatment at your consultation, but, as a guide, a lower abdominal area starts at £1,000 (consisting of two sessions performed four to six weeks apart), while inner thighs start at £1,800 (two sessions around six weeks apart).

As standard, the CoolSculpting price includes:

  • a personalised treatment plan tailored to perfectly suit your needs
  • the treatment/s themselves
  • a follow-up appointment where we’ll ensure you’re totally satisfied with the results.

*Body contouring results and benefits can vary and are different for each individual. As such, Transform cannot guarantee specific results.

What does CoolSculpting involve?

This procedure isn’t nicknamed ‘fat freezing’ for nothing… Cryolipolysis works by super cooling unwanted fat cells in order to kill them off. The dead cells are then gradually eliminated through the body’s natural processes (it’s for this reason that it takes around 12-16 weeks to see the full results).

As CoolSculpting is a non-surgical, totally pain-free treatment, you’ll be fully conscious throughout. It’s so hassle-free, in fact, that many people use the time to catch up on their emails, read or even have a little nap!

See the ‘More details about body contouring’ section for more details.

How does CoolSculpting differ from liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that’s best suited to large fatty deposits in areas like your stomach, hips and thighs. Prices start at around £2,770; you’ll probably need between a couple of days and a week off work to recover after the surgery, and will most likely have to wear a special compression garment for several weeks. You can find some more information about this procedure on our Liposuction page.

CoolSculpting, on the other hand, is a more targeted, non-invasive treatment that works best of small fatty deposits like those you’d find on the chin, arms, inner thighs and back. It costs from around £800, there are no needles involved, and you won’t have to take time out to rest afterwards.

How long does a CoolSculpting treatment take?

Though the amount of time needed will depend on your own individual requirements, a session usually lasts between one and two hours.

Am I suitable for CoolSculpting?

As it’s a toning-related (rather than a weight loss) treatment, CoolSculpting is ideally suited to anyone who’s got isolated fatty bulges that they aren’t able to shift through exercise or dieting.

At your free consultation, we’ll ask you a few questions about your areas of concern, your medical history and why you want to go ahead with the procedure so we can be sure that it’s 100% suitable for you.

How many individual CoolSculpting treatments will I require?

This will depend on the area you’re having treated and the results you’re looking to achieve – sometimes just one session’s sufficient; on other occasions, you might need a series of appointment.

After discussing your needs with you, your Patient Advisor will explain how many sessions you’ll need and why, and then work with you to create an individual treatment plan tailored to your personal circumstances.

Are there any areas of my body which are not suitable for CoolSculpting?

This clever procedure can be safely performed on most commonly fat-prone body areas, including the chin, neck, stomach, thighs, abdomen (to treat ‘love handles’), hips (to get rid of ‘muffin tops’), flanks, back, arms and buttocks. It can’t be used on the face, calves, feet, ankles or hands.

How long before I can return to normal activities following a CoolSculpting treatment?

No time at all! As its completely non-invasive, you can get back to doing your normal, everyday activities straight away.

Are the results of a CoolSculpting treatment permanent?

The fat cells eliminated are permanent killed off and can’t come back. It’s important to remember, though, that new fat cells can grow in their place, so you’ll need to try and keep your weight consistent if you want the results to last.

What happens if I gain weight after my CoolSculpting treatment?

The results are long lasting, but If you put on any weight after your procedure, it’s possible that fat could again gather in the area that you had treated. That’s why it’s best to stick to a healthy lifestyle and diet.

Aqualyx®, an alternative to CoolSculpting

In addition to CoolSculpting, we also offer a fat dissolving treatment called Aqualyx® here at Transform.

It works on a similar principle, but is performed slightly differently, and involves injecting a gel-based solution into fatty deposits, where it breaks down fat cells gradually. Once they’re destroyed, they’re eliminated naturally.

Aqualyx® can be performed on any part of the body, apart from around the eyes, and you’ll usually require between two and eight one-hour session, depending on the area(s) being treated and desired results.

Aqualyx® prices start at around £395 per treated area. To find out more about whether this treatment’s right for you, book your free consultation.

The benefits of CoolSculpting

Given that it’s non-invasive and there’s no recovery time, CoolSculpting is a great option if you want to achieve streamlined, silhouette-changing results but don’t want to deal with the hassle (and extra expense) of undergoing a surgical procedure.

Having the treatment couldn’t be more convenient – it’s quick and totally painless. And in exchange for just an hour or two of your time, you could finally be rid of those fatty deposits for good.

The day of your treatment

When it’s time to get started, a gel pad and applicator will be applied. You might feel some pulling, pinching or an intense cold in the first few minutes, but this soon passes as the area becomes numbed.

Then it’s just a matter of laying back and letting the technology do its work!

After your treatment

The area will be massaged for a few minutes following your treatment to help with the cell breakdown. Then you’ll be able to leave the clinic as soon as you’re ready.

You might experience some redness of the skin, minor bruising, swelling, tingling or numbing afterward, but this will subside quickly (the Transform team will fully explain any possible side effects to you in advance so you’ll know what to expect).

Then, a few weeks later, you’ll have a follow-up appointment to check that you’re happy with the results.
