Q. What is the maximum amount of fat that can be removed?
A: This can be anything between 3 – 4 litres of fat per operation. Anything more than this and we would recommend multiple surgeries.
Q. How long will I need off work after Liposuction surgery
A: The recovery time after Liposuction is usually quite quick and you should be able to go back to work after a few days. We generally advise to take a week off to ensure the best recovery.
Q. What areas can be treated?
A: Liposuction can treat any area of the body, but popular areas include hips, thighs, stomach, chin, knees and bottom.
Q. How long will I need to wear a pressure garment for?
A: This will need to be worn post-surgery for a length of anywhere between 1-8 weeks depending on the preference of your surgeon.
Q. What are the risks and complications with Liposuction?
A: All types of surgery carry a level of risk, for liposuction these can include bruising, loose skin, infection, bleeding after surgery and irregularities of the skin. Your co-ordinator will go through all the details and provide you with a detailed patient guide.
Q. What’s the difference between Vaser and Traditional (Surgical) Liposuction?
A: VASER Liposuction uses ultrasound to target fat cells, which makes it easier to remove without the strain or damage to the skin.
Q. What level of pain can I expect after the procedure?
A: Different people have different thresholds of pain but usually liposuction isn’t particularly painful. In rare cases where some pain is experienced, it can be controlled for a number of days.
Q. What will the scarring be like?
A: The scars are very little (a few mm in length) and generally fade within a few months.
Q. How long after Liposuction will I see results?
A: The result after Liposuction is not immediate, but you will begin to see improvement after 4 weeks and then you will see a constant improvement up until 3 months.
Q. How long will the procedure take?
A: Liposuction lasts between 1 and 3 hours depending on how much fat has to be removed and the region being treated.
Q. How long will I have to stay in hospital?
A: Usually patients who undergo the Liposuction procedure can go home on the same day.
Q. What happens if I gain weight after Liposuction surgery?
A: If you gain weight after Liposuction, the area treated can also gain some of this weight. However, if you keep a healthy lifestyle and diet you can continue to have the same results post-treatment.
Q. What does Vaser Liposuction involve?
A: Vaser Liposuction utilises ultrasound to target the fat cells, this will help the surgeon to help remove the fat in an easier way without bleeding or invasive surgery.
Q. What are the benefits of Vaser Liposuction?
A: Vaser Liposuction will reduce the amount of fat in stubborn areas and guarantee a better reduction of the skin.
Q. What makes a good candidate for Vaser Liposuction?
A: A patient who has some localised areas of fat that don’t respond to diet / exercise in order to lose this fat.
