What is VASER Liposuction?
VASER liposuction - or VASER lipo, is a less invasive fat removal and body sculpting procedure. Vaser uses ultrasound technology to breakdown fat cells without damaging the surrounding tissue. The fat is then removed from the body through a suction process.
The procedure is typically used for areas that are likely to store fat such as the tummy (abdomen), love handles (flanks), back, thighs, arms and chin, but can be used on a number of different areas without issue. It is also popularly used for men to treat gynaecomastia (man boobs). We can deal with multiple areas in a single visit – this can be discussed with your surgeon during your consultation.
Advantages of VASER Liposuction
VASER lipo, an ultrasonic liposuction method, has been growing in popularity for more than a decade because patients experience a shorter recovery time than with other fat removal surgery such as surgical liposuction. As well as removing fat from the body Vaser lipo sculpts the body too and there is also reduced downtime.
It can be used on multiple areas of the body and the technology is less damaging to muscle tissue and connective tissue so visible results are seen more quickly. There is also less scarring and bruising than with traditional liposuction methods. Main benefits include:
- Can be performed under local anaesthetic (rather than a general anaesthetic)
- Less invasive – no damage to surrounding body tissue
- Less scarring, bruising and blood loss
- Minimal downtime for a quicker recovery
- Better quality fat for ‘fat transfer’
What the procedure involves
VASER stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance. All cells in the body, including fat cells, vibrate naturally. This smart liposuction procedure breaks down fat cells by amplifying that natural process.
The advanced ultrasound technology we use allows us to effectively break down fat cells without affecting other cells that vibrate at different frequencies. The liquefied fat cells are then removed from the body using a gentle suction process.
The procedure is less invasive, which means that only small incisions are made in order to suck out the broken down fat cells. These incisions are typically too small to require stitches so multiple visits to your Transform clinic are not usually required for suture removal.
Only one treatment is usually required and this usually takes between 1-3 hours, depending on the number of areas that you want to treat.
VASER Liposuction results
VASER lipo results in a subtle, natural look. The ultrasonic liposuction procedure stimulates collagen production in the body, leaving many patients with tighter skin than conventional liposuction.
Many patients see instant results (see liposuction patient Lorraine Adams, own review of her treatment), however the improved overall appearance of the treated areas will become apparent in the months following the procedure.
Vaser Liposuction generally has less downtime and time in hospital post surgery due to the less invasive method. For best results we recommend that a compression garment (which we will provide) should be worn during the day for anything between 2-6 weeks following the procedure and that a course of LIPOMASSAGE™ is undertaken to further improve results. The treatment can help to reduce any swelling and aide the skin to shrink back more efficiently.
During your initial consultation your Patient Co-ordinator will talk to you in more detail about the benefits of LIPOMASSAGE™ treatment, as well as recovery times (which often means you can return to non-physical work after 3-4 days).
