Weight Loss Surgery

Growing demand for weight loss options from Transform patients has led us to search for a specialist partner in this field who shares the same focus on clinical excellence and commitment to patient care as ourselves.

We are delighted to partner with the Hospital Group, who are the largest UK provider of Bariatric weight loss surgery, performing 1000’s of weight loss procedures a year.

The Hospital Group can help

If non-surgical treatments have not helped you to lose weight and keep it off, weight loss surgery can be a safe and effective solution. If you have a BMI over 30kg/m2, you may be eligible for one of the following procedures. Cosmetic surgery and weight loss surgery results and benefits can vary and are different for each individual. Results are also dependent on diet and exercise. As such, it is important to note that Transform cannot guarantee specific results.

Gastric Band

What is gastric bypass surgery?
The safest of all surgical procedures with excellent weight loss results. A fully adjustable silicone ring is placed around the stomach to restrict the amount of food you can eat and create a feeling of fullness. Using the latest single incision technique, tte Hospital Group patients can exclusively benefit from a ‘No Scar’ cosmetic result.

Gastric Bypass

What is it?
A more complex procedure than gastric banding, it involves dividing both the stomach and the bowel. The smaller stomach pouch restricts the amount of food you can eat, making you feel full after a very small meal and a drop in appetite hormone levels reduces your appetite. A highly effective weight loss procedure with excellent long term results.

Gastric Sleeve

What is it?
A portion of the stomach is removed to leave a thin sleeve which restricts the amount you can eat. Gastric sleeve surgery is relatively new but offers a good alternative to other procedures as it requires no adjustments (unlike a band) and is not irreversible (unlike a bypass). As with a bypass, reduced levels of the hormone ghrelin help to reduce your appetite.

Gastric Balloon

What is it?
This is a simple day-case procedure which involves no surgery, incisions or scars. The balloon is inserted through the mouth and when inflated with saline, occupies a large portion of the stomach making you feel full. It is a temporary kick start to weight loss and is removed after 6 months with no lasting changes to the body.
