TRANSFORM BACKS CALLS FOR TIGHTER REGULATION OF THE
NON-SURGICAL COSMETIC SURGERY MARKET
Transform, Britain's largest and most popular
cosmetic surgery group is backing calls from the British
Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) for tighter
regulation in the non-surgical cosmetic surgery market, warning
that people are at risk from ‘cowboy’ practitioners.
Gwen Davies, non-surgical manager at Transform
says: “Non-surgical treatments are currently very popular in the UK
– we’re expecting demand for these types of treatments to double
over the next three years. This interest has led to many so-called
practitioners with little or no training, carrying out procedures
in places such as gyms, hairdressers, private parties’ of
treatments such as chemical peels and permanent fillers.
“Transform is at the forefront of a lobbying
campaign encouraging the Government to regulate the non-surgical
industry in the UK – currently, there’s nothing in place to protect
the consumer against sub-standard administration of non-surgical
treatments, which we believe should only be carried out by highly
qualified and audited medical staff.
“All Transform non-surgical practitioners are
either a surgeon, doctor or nurse ensuring excellent clinical
standards and care.”
