Treatment FAQ
As a responsible provider of cosmetic surgery, we understand that every patient is different, and so your treatment will be tailored specifically to you. Because of this, our free face-to-face, no obligation consultations are particularly important. Following our consultation process, your surgeon assistant will provide a detailed pricing overview so that you know how much your procedure will cost. It’s important to remember that, although cost is of course an important factor in your final decision, it should be considered alongside other elements such as high levels of care and patient safety, and your surgeon’s expertise and experience.

Breast implants have an exceptional safety record and have been used in over a million procedures worldwide. Rest assured that we only use the safest breast implants in the cosmetic surgery industry, and all our surgeons are General Medical Council registered with high levels of experience and skill. When you come to us for your breast enlargement, you’ll have access to a two-year aftercare program as standard, with the option to extend by up to three years for extra peace of mind. If you have any other questions or concerns about the safety of breast augmentation surgery, then our surgeons will be happy to talk to you more about this.
Breast implants are not designed to last forever, but they don’t have a specific lifespan. Most surgeons say it’s wise to have your implants replaced between 10 to 20 years after the original procedure. Even if you’ve not experienced any problems, we recommend getting your implants checked over by a surgeon around 10 years after your surgery to make sure everything’s still okay.
Yes, many women choose to combine the two procedures and have a breast lift at the same time as their enlargement. Surgeons may recommend this if your breasts have lost volume and you want to lift them, while also increasing the size.
In the UK, the youngest age for breast implants to be considered is 18 years old. The breast augmentation age limit is to ensure that breasts have fully grown and developed naturally before any surgery is undertaken.
Breast enlargement surgery usually takes between one and two hours under general anaesthetic. Your breast surgery time will depend on the type of procedure you’re having. Prior to this, you will probably spend a couple of hours before the procedure meeting with your surgeon and being prepared for theatre. After the procedure, you are likely to be in recovery for a few more hours until you wake up from the anaesthetic.
You may be able to return home on the same day that you have your surgery, but many of our patients require or prefer an overnight stay in one of our dedicated hospitals. We’ll discuss what we think is best with you before we book your breast augmentation surgery, so you know what to expect on the day.
Although breast enlargement is a very commonly performed surgery, it’s important to remember that any surgery carries some potential risks. The risks of breast enlargement surgery include bleeding, infection, and implant rippling. We’ll discuss all potential risks with you prior to surgery and answer any questions you have.
‘Over’ or ‘above the muscle’ procedures involve placing the breast implant in front of your breast muscle, which means it’s more superficial and sits just below the breast tissue. This might be the best option for you if you have some breast tissue already or if you’re restoring fullness to deflated breasts. ‘Under’ or ‘behind the muscle’ refers to an implant that sits behind the breast muscle. This type of breast implant placement is suitable for women with very small breasts who have very little breast fat. This method reduces the likelihood of your breast implants showing and gives a more natural-looking result; however, it can be more difficult to place larger implants this way. Your surgeon will discuss the different types of breast enhancement surgery with you and get to understand the results you want to achieve. They will then recommend the best type of breast implant placement for your body.
After discussing the look that you want to achieve, your surgeon will make their recommendations on which size of implant to go for and explain their choice to you. Although your surgeon will be able to estimate your new breast size based on the implant size and the current size of your breasts, we can’t guarantee exactly what cup size your breasts will be after surgery.
You can expect minor scars after breast implant surgery, but these will fade significantly over time and become much less noticeable. Where your scars are will depend on the method your surgeon uses: one method leaves a scar under the breast hidden in the crease, while others can involve making incisions around the nipple or through the armpit. We’ll make sure you understand where any breast augmentation scars will occur before you book in for surgery.
Yes, many women choose to combine the two procedures and have a breast lift at the same time as their enlargement. Surgeons may recommend this if your breasts have lost volume and you want to lift them while also increasing the size.
Pregnancy affects breasts with implants in the same way that it affects breasts without them. This means that if you gain a lot of weight during pregnancy, the skin of the breast can stretch, and sagging may occur afterwards. You can read our post on breastfeeding after a boob job for information on how breast implants affect nursing.
The Breast and Cosmetic Implant Registry (BCIR) captures the details of all breast implant procedures completed in England by both the NHS and private providers. This is so they can be traced in the event of a product recall or other safety concern relating to a specific type of implant. Transform can add details of your implants to the register after your surgery at no additional cost. To request details with regards to your breast implants, please email medicalrecords.requests@transform.com. We currently hold information on all breast implants used by Transform since 2004.
Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (ALCL) is an extremely rare type of non-Hodgkins lymphoma (NHL), a cancer involving the cells of the immune system. ALCL can affect 1 in 24,000 women who have breast implants. It is important to emphasise the extremely low probability of ALCL occurring in women with boob implants. Instances of Breast Implant Associated ALCL (BIA-ALCL) generally occur several years after the breast implant surgery; on average, eight years following the procedure. The majority of cases are easily treated by removing both the implant and the surrounding capsule, known as a total capsulectomy. Breast enlargement patients will be made fully aware of this condition as part of the consent process before having their procedure.
Every patient’s procedure is different and is tailored specifically to their individual needs. As a result, facelift costs can vary, but your surgeon assistant will be able to provide you with the cost of your procedure when we see you at your free consultation. It’s important to bear in mind that although cost is, of course, an important factor in your final decision, it should be considered alongside other elements such as level of care, patient safety and surgeon experience.
Facelift surgery takes around two hours and is performed under general anaesthetic.
You’ll need to stay in hospital for 1-2 nights and should be able to go home to continue to recover the next day. The surgeon will assess you before you leave to ensure you are ready to be discharged.
Recovery time varies from person to person. Your surgeon will help you decide how long you need to book off from work.
Any risks associated with facelift surgery will be discussed during your surgical consultation. As a guide, facelift surgery can sometimes result in a stiff, puffy and numb face for a few weeks or months, temporary bruising, and scarring which will fade and be hidden by your hairline.
As a responsible provider of cosmetic surgery, we understand that every patient’s procedure is different. We will tailor your treatment specifically around you as an individual and, because of this, our free, no-obligation consultations are particularly important. Following our consultation process, your surgeon assistant will provide a detailed pricing overview around the particular procedure you choose. It’s important to remember that although cost is, of course, an important factor in your final decision, it should be considered alongside other elements such as high levels of care and patient safety and your surgeon’s experience.
Labia reduction surgery takes about 1 hour. Following surgery, you should be able to return home the same day.
We advise you to take 4 days off work following labia reduction surgery. You should be able to see and feel the results of your labia reduction after two to three weeks. These procedures are a partnership between the patient and the doctor, and so our Consultant Gynaecologists recommend that patients engage with the aftercare programme they are given to achieve the best outcomes after surgery.
To allow for a full recovery of the area, we’d advise you to abstain from sexual intercourse for about 6 weeks. Your nurse and surgeon will, of course, assess how the site is healing during your aftercare appointments.
All the risks can be discussed in your surgical consultation. As a guide, labiaplasty can occasionally result in bleeding, infection, scarring of tissue and reduced sensitivity of the genitals.
Your surgeon will make every effort to keep scarring as minimal as possible, and try to hide incisions within the natural folds of your skin.
The surgery will take around 2 hours, and you’ll be under general anaesthetic throughout.
Your surgeon will make every effort to keep scarring to a minimum. Incisions are usually kept within the natural contours of your chest, so any scarring will be as discreet as possible and will fade over time.
Full recovery will take around 6 weeks, so we advise you to take at least one week off work and to avoid any strenuous exercise or heavy lifting until after you’ve recovered.
The results can be long-lasting if you maintain a healthy diet and do regular exercise to minimise any further weight gain.
We advise that you should wait at least six weeks following your surgery before going to the gym, and we recommend beginning with simple exercises, especially if your exercise involves heavy lifting.
As a responsible provider of cosmetic surgery, we understand that each individual's procedure is different and will be tailored specifically around the patient. Because of this, we place a great deal of importance on our free face-to-face, no obligation consultations. Following our consultation process your patient advisor will provide a detailed pricing overview around the particular procedure.
Gynaecomastia surgery is used to flatten and enhance the shape of the chest. We have three classifications of chest reduction surgery your surgeon will have discussed with you which type you require prior to surgery. Gynaecomastia surgery involves using liposuction to remove excess fat, and depending on your requirements, excess skin and glandular tissue may also be removed in order to achieve expected results. Following your procedure, you may be required to stay overnight at a Transform hospital.
You'll usually need to stay in one of our hospitals for one night. We'll discuss what we think is best with you before we book your surgery.
You can expect to feel some discomfort for several days following your surgery, however we will provide pain relief in hospital and also advise on managing any discomfort when you return home. If you have any concerns during your recovery, you will have access to our 24/7 patient helpline, so there will always be someone available to help.
The results will be immediately visible after your surgery, and if you maintain a healthy lifestyle, you can expect the results to last.
We advise you to take a full week off work following gynaecomastia surgery.
As a responsible provider of cosmetic surgery, we understand that every patient is different, and so your treatment will be tailored specifically to you. Because of this, our free face-to-face, no obligation consultations are particularly important. Following our consultation process, your surgeon assistant will provide a detailed pricing overview so that you know how much your rhinoplasty will cost.
As it takes up to two weeks for the bruising and swelling to go down after your nose surgery, many of our customers choose to book between a week and a fortnight off work. However, this will depend on the physical demands of your job and your surgeon assistant can discuss this in more detail.
We are often asked how long a rhinoplasty surgery takes, but there is no simple answer; it will vary according to the procedure you choose to have. Typically, though, rhinoplasty surgery takes around two hours under general anaesthetic. You will probably require an overnight stay in hospital following the procedure, and so you should allow for a full 24 hours for the whole process.
Rhinoplasty recovery times vary from person to person. Any incisions will be closed with dissolvable stitches, which will disappear on their own after a week or so. It will be at least two weeks before the bruising fades, and several months before your nose settles into its new shape following surgery. Before you leave hospital, we will let you know what to do and what not to do after rhinoplasty to make sure you recover quickly. You will also have several post-operative appointments so we can check your nose job recovery is going well and you are pleased with the results.
Most rhinoplasty incisions are made inside the nostrils, so you will not be able to see any scars. However, for some types of nose jobs your surgeon may make an incision in the skin between your nostrils, which is called ‘open rhinoplasty’. You might also need small incisions on either side of your nostrils, which will leave very fine scars. Your surgeon will fully explain the type of nose surgery you will be having and outline any expected scarring, so you will know what to expect.
Nose surgery is suitable for most people, but we'll take a full medical history and complete a pre-op screening to make sure you're physically fit enough before we go ahead with your surgery.
Yes, it can. Your Transform surgeon will talk to you about your symptoms and examine you so that they can advise on how they can help.
As with all surgical procedures, there are some risks attached, but we'll fully explain these to you so you can feel as confident and reassured as possible before going ahead.
The cost of your lip fillers will depend on how much filler is being used during the treatment. This can be discussed with your medical aesthetic practitioner at your free consultation.
The treatment can be carried out within 30-45 minutes.
Lip fillers can feel slightly uncomfortable during the treatment and there may be some swelling/bruising in the area afterwards. The swelling should subside after 2 days, with the bruising taking a little longer. Over the counter painkillers can be taken to reduce any mild discomfort.
The side effects of lip fillers are minimal, but may include swelling, bruising and redness. These should subside within 2 days.
Lip fillers can last between 6-12 months. We recommend having lip fillers topped up to maintain volume - you can discuss how frequently you will need you top ups at your free consultation.
Lip fillers, also known as lip filler injections or lip augmentation, are non-surgical cosmetic procedures designed to add volume to the lips. The process involves injecting a solution into the lips using a very fine needle. Although not permanent, lip filler is an effective way to add fulness to the lips over an extended period, with results usually lasting between 6-12 months. Exactly how long lip fillers last can vary, depending on the types of lip fillers used and your lifestyle.
Lip filler injections are only ever administered by our fully qualified, highly trained aesthetic nurses and doctors. All our practitioners are registered with the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners, which means they have the right qualifications and skills to perform your treatment. Our expert team is committed to providing the highest standard of care to patients – so you can book your lip line fillers with confidence, knowing you’re in the best hands.
It's up to you how much of a change you want to achieve. Some of our clients are just looking to make a subtle change, while others want much fuller lips. We'll talk to you about the look you want and let you know our recommendations.
So, how do lip fillers work, exactly? Essentially, filler solution is injected beneath the skin, which plumps up the lips and helps to improve definition. The types of lip fillers we use at Transform are made of hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring acid that our skin cells produce to keep skin moisturised and healthy. Sometimes our environment, the products we use, and the natural ageing process mean our levels of hyaluronic acid can decrease. This may lead to dry, dull skin, and lines and wrinkles. This is where lip filler injections come in, filling the skin with hyaluronic acid to boost hydration, add volume and improve definition.
Here at Transform, we’re dedicated to offering the highest-quality lip filler injections to our patients. All our products are FDA-approved and are carefully designed by premium brands to make sure you achieve your desired look. The types of lip fillers we use in our UK clinics are made from hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally-occurring acid produced by our skin cells. They are non-animal and suitable for all different skin types. Please note that these are not permanent lip fillers and the solution will be absorbed naturally by your body over time. For this reason, you may wish to have a lip filler course to maintain your desired level of volume (the frequency can be discussed at your consultation).
It’s up to you to decide how much of a change you want. Some of our clients simply decide on a subtle change, while others want much fuller lips. We’ll talk to you about the look you desire, and let you know our recommendations.
Here at Transform, we offer non-permanent lip fillers that give exceptionally good results. Although they are not permanent, our lip fillers are long-lasting and will usually maintain their volume for between 6 and 12 months – but exactly how long lip fillers last will vary between patients. Because they are not permanent, lip fillers will typically need topping up. You can discuss the frequency of top up treatments at your treatment consultation.
Our non-permanent lip fillers offer great long-lasting results, so you shouldn’t need to get them topped up regularly. Typically, our patients will need to get their lip line fillers redone every three to six months to maintain the same level of fulness and definition.
Rest assured that your lip filler course will be carried out by a qualified and experienced practitioner registered with the JCCP. However, as with any form of cosmetic surgery or procedure, there are some lip filler risks, like bruising, swelling and infection. During your consultation, your patient advisor will talk you through all the potential lip filler risks and side effects. They’ll also give you lip filler aftercare tips to ensure the potential risks are minimised.
After the insertion of lip filler, swelling is common, and you may find that your lips feel quite tender for several days. In terms of the lip filler swelling stages, your lips are likely to be most swollen the morning after the procedure. This will gradually ease, and all swelling will usually disappear after 48 hours. Your practitioner will talk you through all potential side effects and how to manage them, including how to reduce swelling after lip fillers.
You may experience some swelling and bruising after lip fillers, but you should be able to leave the clinic straight after your treatment and go about your usual daily activities. However, there are some lip filler aftercare tips to follow to aid the healing process. We recommend you don’t do any exercise for 24 hours after your treatment and avoid putting makeup on or around your lips. Your patient advisor can give you more information on lip filler aftercare during your consultation, and you’ll have access to our 24/7 helpline if you need any advice once you get home.
We recommend you avoid wearing any make up on or around your lips for at least 24 hours after your treatment to aid the lip filler healing process.
If you’re wondering whether you can smoke after lip fillers, the general advice is to avoid smoking straight after your treatment. This is because it may increase the risk of infection and may also dry out the skin. However, smoking should not impact the overall outcome of your lip line fillers.
We advise patients to avoid drinking alcohol after lip fillers. This is because alcohol is known to thin the blood and can also enlarge blood vessels – which may make the bruising and swelling after lip fillers worse. We also recommend avoiding alcohol for the days leading up to your appointment to minimise these side effects.
The cost of our facial peels will be dependent on which type of peel your skin needs. This can be discussed with our medical aesthetic practitioners at your free consultation.
A facial peel treatment will take around 30 minutes.
Facial peels work by using a chemical solution that deeply exfoliates the skin, removing the top layers of dead skin cells to make way for cell renewal.
Facial peels can address pigmentation, acne, scarring, sun damage, and wrinkles.
You can expect to see healthy, glowing skin that feels smoother.
A chemical face peel is a non-surgical procedure designed to give you fresher and healthier looking skin. The peel contains an acid base, which safely and effectively removes dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin. Your expert aesthetician will apply the face peel, and you’ll notice a warm sensation as the treatment starts to work on your skin. Depending on the type of chemical peel you have, a soothing cream may be applied – and you’ll notice your skin peeling around two to three days after your treatment.
Yes, we have some great offers on our chemical peels! As our deals change regularly, we recommend you give us a call us on 0330 053 9115, email us at info@transform.com or book a free consultation so we can chat through our current offers. During your consultation with your patient advisor, you’ll be given a bespoke treatment plan including the chemical peel cost in our UK clinics. They’ll explain in detail the various offers and finance options we have available, which now include 12 months interest-free credit on treatments that cost £250 or more, with no initial deposit. Please note that our finance is provided by Omni Capital Retail Finance Ltd, which is a credit intermediary regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. All finance is subject to individual status and terms and conditions apply.
We understand that everyone’s skin is different, and so we offer a range of different chemical peel types. The benefits vary depending on which one you choose. Typically, we offer mild, medium and deep chemical peels which contain different strengths of active ingredients to achieve different results. For instance, mild chemical face peels, such as the Obagi Blue Radiance Peel, don’t penetrate below the top layer of the skin (the epidermis). Medium strength face peels, such as Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA), penetrate to the surface of the middle layer of the skin (the dermis). Deep chemical peels, such as the Phenol peel, penetrate deeper into the dermis and are commonly used to reduce sun damage or wrinkles. During your initial consultation, your professional practitioner will chat to you about the results you’d like to achieve and the different types of chemical peels available – and advise you on which would be best for your skin’s colour, texture and needs.
How often you can have a chemical peel depends on the type of treatment you’re having. Many patients choose to have our mild face peels carried out regularly - for instance, once every two weeks - as part of their overall beauty regime. This helps to keep skin looking and feeling radiant, smooth and blemish-free. Medium-strength face peels such as our Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) peel can be done once every month or two to maintain results. When you speak to your friendly patient advisor, they’ll let you know how often you can do a chemical peel depending on your desired results and skin type.
Essentially, both face and body chemical peels do the same thing – exfoliate the skin. Each of our skin peeling treatments is medically formulated with an acid base to remove dead skin cells safely and effectively from the top layers of the skin. Once applied, the chemical peel brings the pH of your skin to a specific level of acidity, which loosens dead and damaged skin cells and encourages cell renewal. This results in bright and radiant looking skin. You can get chemical peels for scars, to reduce lines and wrinkles, reverse sun damage and more.
As with most medical aesthetic treatments, you may experience some minor chemical peel side effects. Most commonly, this may be temporary dry skin, peeling or flaking, and some redness. These are completely normal after a skin peel, and they’ll gradually ease until they disappear completely after a few days. Of course, the chemical peel side effects will vary depending on the strength of the treatment you’ve had and how sensitive your skin is, but your JCCP-registered practitioner will explain this to you before your treatment so you know what to expect. They’ll also give you chemical peel aftercare advice, such as the best products to use to minimise potential side effects.
Following a chemical peel recovery times can vary, depending on the type of peel you’ve had and how sensitive your skin is. For instance, if you have a mild face peel, you should be able to carry on with the rest of your day as normal following your treatment, whereas if you have a deep chemical peel, the recovery time may be between 7 and 10 days. Rest assured that your expert aesthetician will be able to advise on the likely recovery time for your procedure and answer any questions you may have. Please be aware that you’ll have particularly sensitive skin after a chemical peel, so it’s important to wear high-strength sun block following treatment.
We understand that your chemical face peel may just be the first step in your skin transformation journey, and we’re here to help you every step of the way. Our expert aestheticians will give you all the chemical peel aftercare tips you need to help you maintain your beautiful radiant glow following your skin peel. They’ll let you know which products to use, how best to look after your skin, and advise you about any ongoing treatments you may need. For instance, certain face peels such as our Glycolic and Obagi Blue Peel are usually most effective when treatment is carried out every two weeks as part of a chemical peel course. We’ll create a bespoke treatment plan for you during your consultation once we know exactly what results you’d like to achieve. It’s important to know that you’re likely to have sensitive skin after a chemical peel, so you’ll need to apply strong sunscreen as part of your chemical peel aftercare routine.
The cost of your laser hair removal treatment will depend on the amount of hair being removed, and the size and number of the areas being treated. Your surgeon assistant can give you a detailed breakdown of the cost involved.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology is not a laser treatment, as it uses a broad spectrum of light to heat and destroy the hair follicle at the root, preventing it from regrowing. Laser hair removal uses a powerful laser that emits precisely controlled pulses of energy, which heat and destroy the follicles in the skin.
Laser hair removal is most effective on hair that is a darker pigment than the skin. Your medical aesthetic practitioner will advise you at your consultation as to whether you’re a suitable candidate for the treatment.
Most people require six to eight sessions of laser hair removal to get the results they want, and annual top up treatments may be required to maintain the results. Typically, with laser hair removal the interval between treatments is between 4-6 weeks, as it’s best at removing hair which is in the active growth stage and not all hair is in that phase at the same time. You’ll notice that the regrowth becomes more sparse each time.
Yes, there are. Here at Transform, we offer two different types of hair removal – laser hair removal and IPL technology. They work in a similar way, using pulses of light to heat up and destroy hair follicles. Typically, both types of laser hair removal take between six and eight sessions to get the area completely free of hair. But there’s one important difference – laser hair removal is more intense as it has a denser light which focuses all the energy. The ideal candidate for laser hair removal is anyone with hair that’s darker than their skin, whereas IPL technology is usually only suitable for those with naturally dark-blond, brown and black hair. If you’re unsure whether IPL or laser hair removal will be right for you, get in touch with our experts today who’ll be happy to help you find your most suitable method.
Most people require six to eight sessions of laser hair removal to get the results they want, but your practitioner will be able to advise exactly how many are right for you. Typically, with laser hair removal the interval between treatments is between four and six weeks, as it’s best at removing hair which is in the active growth stage and not all hair in in that phase at the same time. You’ll notice that less and less hair grows back after each treatment.
Yes, laser hair removal is a safe treatment, but may sometimes cause side effects such as redness, bruising, pain and swelling, although this is quite rare. Here at Transform, all our practitioners are CTC-registered and receive ongoing training in the very latest techniques. Using our experience and expertise, we have helped thousands of people through their hair removal journeys, so you can book your treatment with complete confidence and know that you’re in capable hands. We also use the highest quality equipment such as Lightsheer, Quantum, Soprano, Lumenis One and Harmony machines in our Care Quality Commission-registered clinics to ensure your treatment is effective.
You'll notice that your hair grows back finer with each laser hair removal session, reducing by approximately 10-15% with each treatment until it disappears entirely. We recommend a top-up treatment once a year to maintain the smooth results.
Yes, shaving is fine. In fact, we’ll ask you to shave between each laser hair removal session as it makes it easier to perform the treatment, but you shouldn’t wax or pluck as this removes the hair from the follicle, so there’s nothing for the lasers to target.
Winter is the best time to have laser treatment for hair removal because it’s easier to avoid direct sunlight, which can damage sensitised skin. However, you can have laser or IPL treatment at any time of year, as long as you don’t have a tan. Because it takes several months to fully complete a laser hair removal course, it’s important to plan ahead. For instance, if you want hair-free skin in time for your summer holiday, you probably need to book your first session for January or February.
Yes, you’ll need to keep the treated area out of the sun for approximately two weeks before and after your laser hair removal course, depending on your skin type. Your practitioner will advise you on any precautions you’ll need to take and for how long. For darker skin types, you may need to avoid sunlight for six weeks before and after your treatment to avoid marks appearing on your skin.
No, your skin needs to be totally free of tanning products. This is because the lasers can’t tell the difference between natural melanin in the skin or stimulated melanin from the tanning products, so they’ll heat up both structures to the same temperature. This can damage the skin and cause blisters, darkening or pigmentation.
You’ll need to wait for approximately six weeks so that the hair has time to grow back in the follicle.
For your first consultation and patch test, you should leave hair unshaven so that the practitioner can properly assess the hair and take accurate before photos. After that, we advise that you shave before each treatment session.
Understandably, many patients are keen to understand how IPL and laser hair removal work. While both lasers and IPL use light to heat hair follicles and prevent hair regrowth, the technology used for each is not the same, because different light sources are used. Laser hair removal treatment involves using a powerful laser that emits precisely controlled pulses of energy, which heat and destroy the root of the hair in the skin. By damaging the hair at its source, future hair growth is stopped or delayed safely without affecting the surrounding tissue. IPL technology, in contrast, is not a laser treatment because it uses a broad spectrum of light rather than the single spectrum light used in laser hair removal.
How long your laser hair removal, or your IPL treatment, takes will depend on the size of the area you’re having treated and the amount of hair you have. As a guide, sessions can last anywhere from 15 minutes to two hours. For example, laser hair removal of the underarms may take 30 minutes or less, whereas treatment of the upper and lower leg may take up to 90 minutes.
If you’re thinking about having this treatment, it’s important to get a good understanding of the potential laser and IPL hair removal side effects. Please know that both IPL and laser treatments are safe and will be carried out by CTC-registered practitioners with the relevant knowledge and expertise. However, there are some potential laser hair removal risks which may include tender or painful skin, bruising, blistering, swelling, scarring or burns. The IPL and laser hair removal side effects are rare, and your advisor will discuss all risks with you during your consultation. We’re here to help you along your hair removal journey, so please don’t hesitate to ask any questions you may have.
IPL and laser hair removal are very effective, but results will vary depending on your complexion and hair. You’ll notice that your hair grows back finer with each laser hair removal session, reducing by approximately 10-15% with each treatment until it disappears entirely. We recommend a top-up treatment once a year to maintain the smooth results.
Technically, laser and IPL aren’t permanent hair removal techniques, but they will have long-lasting results. Laser hair removal works by heating and destroying the hair follicle to reduce future hair growth. While this is not a guaranteed permanent hair removal method, most patients will find that the hair will grow back finer with each session until it stops growing. Typically, we advise patients to have a laser hair removal treatment once per year after their initial course to maintain the result.
Many of our patients ask us if laser hair removal is painful. The treatment shouldn’t hurt, but as the practitioner glides the laser device across the surface of your skin, you’ll experience a pulsing sensation. Some patients say this feels like stinging, a hot pinprick or an elastic band flicking the skin.
After laser hair removal sessions, you should be able to leave the clinic and go about your normal daily life. However, it’s important to avoid any strenuous activities or applying products that may irritate the treated area. Your skin will be much more sensitive to sunlight after laser hair removal so you should stay out of the sun for several weeks and apply regular SPF protection. Your patient advisor can provide more information on laser hair removal aftercare during your consultation. Rest assured that we’re committed to providing the highest standard of aftercare for all our patients, which is why we have a 24/7 helpline that you can contact if you need any assistance or advice post treatment.
The cost of our facial peels vary depending on the type of skin peel your practitioner recommends, and this can all can be discussed at your free consultation.
We provide a range of medical formulation chemical peel treatments of varying strengths. Each is safe and designed to penetrate and exfoliate to a particular depth. These range from light peels such as Epionce refresh, Obagi Blue Radiance and Glycolic right through to deep phenol peels that can help to reduce facial wrinkles or treat sun damaged skin.
Each peel has a different strength of active ingredients and therefore the treatment itself varies. Generally, the treatment involves the preparation of the area to be treated and the careful application of the chemical peel. It will be removed after a specific time and then a cream may then be applied.
Some chemical peels are single skin peel treatments and involve no down time. Others require a course of treatments, some of which have little or no down time, others with a maximum of 7 to 10 day recovery period. You should always use sunblock post-treatment, as your skin can be quite sensitive. After any chemical peel you can leave the clinic as soon as you feel comfortable to do so.
The cost of gastric band surgery can vary, so we advise booking in for your free consultation with your surgeon assistant to talk about costs. We offer flexible payment plans that are tailored to your individual needs and help you to spread the cost of gastric band surgery if required.
Gastric band surgery is a surgical procedure during which a silicone band is fitted around the top part of the stomach to help reduce hunger and appetite, and therefore your food intake, which eventually leads to long term weight loss. The procedure is for people who are classed as obese.
Gastric bypass surgery is designed to make the stomach smaller and bypass part of the intestine, which results in alterations in levels of gut hormones and significantly reduces appetite. You may want to consider a gastric bypass when diet and exercise has proved unsuccessful and you’re still overweight. A gastric bypass is non-reversable.
Gastric sleeve surgery removes a portion of the stomach permanently, creating a sleeve or tube-like shape. The stomach is made smaller, meaning your portion sizes will be reduced and you’ll have a lower calorie intake to aid weight loss. A gastric sleeve is non-reversible.
You’ll usually need to stay in hospital for one night following your gastric band surgery, and it may take around 1-2 weeks to return to your regular activities. Any pain you might have after the operation will be treated with pain relief medication. and it’ll be important to take it easy in the first few weeks.
Every patient’s procedure is different and is tailored specifically to their individual needs. As a result, arm lift costs can vary, but your surgeon assistant will be able to provide you with the cost of your procedure during your free consultation. It’s important to bear in mind that although cost is, of course, an important factor in your final decision, it should be considered alongside other factors such as level of care, patient safety and surgeon experience.
Incisions are made along the inside of the arms and the excess skin is carefully removed from beneath, before the skin is stitched into its new shape. If required, liposuction can also be used to remove excess fat and/or help streamline the shape of the arms.
Arm lift surgery takes around two hours and is performed under general anaesthetic, so you’ll need to stay in hospital overnight after your surgery.
Recovery time varies from person to person. We usually advise you to take two weeks off work and avoid lifting or driving for four weeks after your arm lift procedure.
There will be some visible scarring following surgery, but this will be minimised by keeping the incision lines within natural contours on the underside of the arms. Over time, any scars will fade.
As with all surgical procedures, there are some risks attached, but we'll fully explain these to you so you can feel as confident and reassured before going ahead.
The most common laser eye surgery LASIK after this you will need a lift to get home, you will typically rest your eyes or sleep for a couple of hours afterwards, you will be provided with goggles to sleep in for a week, but typically your vision will return to 20/20 the day after your procedure. There will be a period of pain and discomfort managed by pain killers only and this will typically last for a couple of hours to a couple of days. Your optometrist may clear you to drive the day after your procedure.
You will typically use drops for around 7 days after your surgery these are anti-inflammatory antibiotic and lubricating drops. These lubricating drops can be commonly prescribed for a period of months after surgery.
This can be anywhere between 2 hrs to 2 days but longer for patients experiencing dryness symptoms or for those patients having a LASEK procedure.
Some patient experience 20/20 vision the same day with most achieving full visual recovery within the first 7 days. This is delayed for LASEK patients.
Potentially, most patients who are over 30 years of age never need a further procedure, however a small number of all patients require a revision – top up procedure also called an enhancement to get the fully desired visual outcome this is typically less than 5% of patients.
A hernia occurs when an internal organ or tissue pushes through a weakened area of muscle or connective tissue. This often appears as a lump or bulge and may cause discomfort, especially when standing, coughing, or lifting.
Hernia repair surgery is a procedure used to correct the weakness in the muscle wall and return the displaced tissue to its proper position. The repaired area is strengthened to reduce the risk of the hernia returning.
Inguinal hernia repair is surgery to treat a hernia in the groin area. It is one of the most common types of hernia surgery and can be performed using open or laparoscopic (keyhole) techniques, depending on the individual case.
You should seek medical advice if hernia pain becomes persistent, worsens over time, or is accompanied by symptoms such as swelling, redness, nausea, or vomiting. These may indicate a complication that requires urgent assessment.
Hernia repair surgery usually takes around 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the type of hernia and the surgical approach used.
Many patients can return home the same day, while others may stay in hospital for one night for observation. Your surgeon will advise what to expect based on your procedure and recovery.
Some discomfort is normal after surgery, but pain is usually manageable with medication. Most patients find that discomfort improves steadily over the first few days following surgery.
Recovery time varies, but many patients:
Take around 1–2 weeks off work, depending on their role
Resume light activities after 2–3 weeks
Achieve full recovery from around 4–6 weeks
Your surgeon will provide personalised recovery guidance.
Light exercise may be possible after 2–3 weeks, depending on how you are healing. Strenuous activity and heavy lifting should only be resumed when your surgeon advises it is safe to do so.
Scarring is usually minimal, particularly with laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. The appearance of scars depends on the surgical technique used and individual healing.
Hernia repair surgery is effective, but there is a small risk of recurrence. Following post-operative advice and recovery guidance can help reduce this risk.
Hernia repair surgery is one of the most commonly performed procedures in general surgery. Inguinal hernia repair, in particular, is carried out frequently and has a strong record of positive outcomes when performed by experienced surgeons.
A specialist consultation is the best way to determine whether hernia repair surgery is recommended. Your consultant will assess your symptoms, examine the hernia, and discuss suitable treatment options.
You can book a consultation with our specialist team to discuss your symptoms, diagnosis, and whether hernia repair surgery is right for you.
As a responsible provider of cosmetic surgery, we understand that everyone’s procedure is different, so our treatment plans are tailored specifically around your unique needs. Because of this, the cost of a breast reduction can vary.
Breast reduction surgery will take around two to four hours, and you’ll be put under general anaesthetic for this procedure. You’ll need to stay in hospital for at least two nights, where you’ll receive high quality care from our nursing team.
You’ll need to stay in hospital for two nights where you’ll be cared for by our nurses. Your surgeon will check that you are fit before you return home.
Large breasts can often sag due to their weight, causing nipples to point downwards as a result. Breast reduction surgery reduces the size and weight of the breasts, resulting in breasts that are smaller and appear firmer and more lifted. Following breast reduction surgery, your breasts should appear more in proportion to your body. You can discuss the visual aspects of treatment with your surgeon during the free consultation.
Changes should be visible shortly after the breast reduction procedure, but post-operative swelling may prevent you from seeing the end result for some time. Although the swelling will slowly decrease over the weeks after your surgery, it can take up to six months for the full results to be seen. Regular follow-up appointments will help you to monitor the progress of your breast reduction and ensure that the incisions are healing well. Once the swelling has settled, you’ll be able to see the final results.
You should expect some degree of scarring, but the extent of this will depend on where the incisions were made and the type of procedure. The position of any scars generally ensures that they are hidden when you are wearing clothes and after twelve months the scarring should fade significantly. Some of the scars will be concealed along the crease of the breast, but parts of the scar will remain visible.
Breastfeeding may still be an attainable goal following breast reduction surgery and all efforts will be made to preserve milk-producing tissue during the procedure. However, there is a level of risk that breastfeeding following a breast reduction may not be achievable. Such risks and concerns will be discussed in depth by your surgeon at your initial consultation.
The size and shape of your breasts should remain consistent, but this cannot be guaranteed if you gain or lose a significant amount of weight in the future. Excessive weight gain or weight loss may result in fluctuations in the shape and size of your breasts. This will be covered in your consultation, but if you have any specific weight goals in mind or concerns surrounding pregnancy, you should discuss this prior to the procedure with your surgeon.
If you have one breast larger than the other, you may be a good candidate for a breast reduction procedure. While it is common to have one breast that is slightly larger than the other, if there is a significant difference in size, it may be possible to create a more even appearance by having a breast reduction and reducing the size of the larger breast.
Back, neck and shoulder pain caused by large or oversized breasts can affect people of all ages. The minimum age for breast reduction surgery at Transform is 18. A key consideration when opting to have breast reduction surgery is whether you plan to have children in the future because a breast reduction may impact your ability to breast feed successfully. For this reason we don't typically recommend that a breast reduction is undertaken prior to having children.
During the breast reduction procedure, a nipple graft may take place depending on the amount of tissue that needs to be removed from the breast. Once the breast is reformed in the desired size and shape, the nipple is positioned in the optimum location and grafted back into place.
In some cases, women find that they do experience a loss of nipple sensitivity after a breast reduction. This, and other potential side effects, will be discussed at length during your pre-surgery consultations.
Women who have a breast reduction surgery are generally satisfied with the appearance of their breasts and enjoy the increased comfort levels that come with smaller breasts and no further surgical procedures are required. Unlike other breast procedures such as breast enlargement where implants need to be replaced, a breast reduction shouldn't require follow-up procedures to maintain the appearance. Unless you become pregnant or gain a significant amount of weight after a breast reduction, the shape and size of your breasts should remain the same.
Nose reshaping surgeries change the appearance of the nose through shaping and altering bone, cartilage, and tissue. There are a number of types of nose job, with each focused on a different concern. Nose reduction surgery involves removing parts of the nose to reduce its size and change its shape. This is typically a closed rhinoplasty procedure, resulting in no visible scarring and a shorter recovery time. However, the choice of procedure can differ depending on the individual, so closed surgery is not always possible for everyone. Nose augmentation surgery involves taking bone from the hips, elbow, or skull, and cartilage from the ears, and using this to create a graft that reconstructs or builds up part of the nose. Rhinoplasty can also change the shape of the nose without removing or adding bone or tissue. This is done by breaking the nose bone and moving the cartilage and bone into a new position that is then set in place. Septoplasty procedures are used to change the shape of the nasal septum – for aesthetic reasons, or to curtail breathing difficulties – by moving the septum and removing any tissue or cartilage, if needed. Rhinotip (nose tip surgery) correction surgery changes the tip of the nose and nostrils through the alteration of the cartilage. The specific type of nose job that might help you is best decided through a consultation between you and your surgeon. With their expert help, you will be able to further understand the rhinoplasty options available to you, which would best suit you, and what the realistic results will be.
While nose surgeries are not recommended for everyone, they can provide several benefits. Firstly, by changing the size or shape of the nose, the face can be given a more harmonious appearance. This can give you more confidence in how you look, and greater self-esteem. Rhinoplasty may also help you breathe more easily, which can improve sleep, stop snoring, allow more intense exercise, and solve sinus problems. And nose surgery can be used to reconstruct the nose and restore its appearance too; remedying a birth defect or fixing a historical nose break that did not heal correctly, for example.
Rhinoplasties are medical procedures, so there will always be a slight risk. That said, you can be sure that our experienced, skilled, and regulated surgeons in the UK have performed thousands of nose reshaping surgeries without incident. There is a very slight risk of infection following a nose job, alongside anaesthetic complications, post-operation scars, numbness, pain, or bleeding. Bruising and swelling, while typically not risks in and of themselves, are common after rhinoplasty procedures too. You should always be aware of the risks before you commit to a rhinoplasty procedure. That’s why your advisor will fully explain them all, so you feel as confident and reassured as possible before making your choice. Pre-operation screening will also be conducted, minimising any rhinoplasty risks further.

Yes, nose surgery can be a good option for women with breathing difficulties. Your rhinoplasty surgeon will discuss the symptoms of your breathing problem and examine you so they can advise on the best course of action.
It typically takes up to two weeks for bruising and swelling to reduce once you’ve had your nose surgery, so often our clients will book between a week and a fortnight off work. The amount of time required does depend on how physically demanding your job is, but your rhinoplasty surgeon assistant can discuss this in more detail with you.
The need for general anaesthesia differs depending on the type of rhinoplasty procedure taking place. Some short nose jobs, such as those occurring on the tip of the nose, only require a local anaesthetic, while those that involve cartilage and bone will usually be performed under general. Whatever you require, we’ll talk you through your options before we book your nose surgery, so you’re completely happy with the type of anaesthetic we recommend.
Nose surgery typically takes between one and a half and three hours to complete. That said, the specific duration of your surgery may be shorter or longer, as different procedures take different periods of time. It’s likely you will need to stay overnight in one of our hospitals afterwards, which means a full 24 hours is typically required for the whole nose cosmetic surgery procedure.
After your nose plastic surgery, you will probably need to stay overnight in one of our hospitals – sometimes for two nights. The need for this differs by procedure, so we’ll talk you through our recommendation before we arrange your surgery.
The time it takes to recover from rhinoplasty depends on the person. A dressing is typically worn for the first 12 hours. Any incisions are closed with dissolvable stitches that disappear after a week or so, and you may need to wear a splint across your nose for around a week. Bruising will fade after at least two weeks, and it may take a few months before your nose settles into its altered shape. Patient aftercare is our priority, so whatever your rhinoplasty procedure, we’ll let you know what you should and shouldn’t do to make sure you experience a speedy recovery and optimal results. We’ll check up with you across several post-operative appointments too. These are a chance to make sure your nose job recovery is going well and you’re happy with the end result.
Typically, rhinoplasty incisions are made inside the nostrils, which means you won’t see any scars. If your nose job requires open rhinoplasty, your nose surgeon may make an incision in between your nostrils, or on each side of your nostrils. These can leave very fine scars, but usually these are difficult to notice. To make sure you know exactly what to expect in terms of scarring, your surgeon will explain what nose surgery you’ll be having, how it will be performed, and what scars might be formed as a result.
If you are considering nose cosmetic surgery, you need to be sure it is the right choice for you. That’s because nose surgeries are typically irreversible. Changing such a significant aspect of your facial appearance permanently is not a small decision. You need to be aware that perfection is never achieved (through nose reshaping or any other procedure), and that your expectations may differ from the result. How long have you thought about the procedure? Why are you thinking about it now? What will it change in your life? These are the sorts of questions you should ask yourself while consulting with your advisor and surgeon regarding a rhinoplasty. That way, you can be sure it’s the right choice for you over the long term. You should also be sure that you have the correct nose reshaping procedure performed. This is also covered during the consultation period so you can have all the expert knowledge needed to make an informed decision about your health and appearance. To ensure your safety, your advisor will also assess your full medical history. And a pre-operation screening will ensure you have the level of physical fitness required to go ahead with a nose surgery, too.
Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a ‘nose job’, is a type of cosmetic surgery that alters the appearance of the nose. Typically, rhinoplasty surgery involves adjusting or reshaping bone, cartilage and tissue to change the shape and/or size of the nose. There are many different types of nose jobs available which you can find out more about below.
Rhinoplasties usually last a lifetime, given that they are permanent. That said, your nose will age as you grow older and the collagen in your tissues breaks down naturally. This can sometimes slightly affect how your nose looks, its structure, or the appearance of any scarring from your nose surgery. Every procedure and person is different, so your consultation will focus on the long-term impact of your rhinoplasty, including how its look might change over time as you age.
