Meet our Medical Director, Mr Mark Gorman

Governance

Every decision we make about your care sits within a clinical structure, and at the top of that structure is our Medical Director.

Mr Mark Gorman holds overall responsibility for clinical standards at Transform. That means the quality of care you receive, the surgeons and clinicians who deliver it, and the systems that sit behind both.

What the Medical Director does

The role is deliberately broad, because clinical safety is not one job. Mr Gorman is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the credentialling of surgeons and clinicians who work with us, including scope of practice, indemnity and revalidation
  • Providing clinical leadership to our Medical Advisory Committee, where clinical policy, incidents and practice standards are reviewed
  • Leading our multidisciplinary team process for complex cases
  • Signing off clinical protocols, consent standards and patient pathways
  • Acting as the clinical voice in our response to complaints, incidents and audit findings

Why it matters to you

Private healthcare works best when clinical judgement, not commercial pressure, decides what happens next. Having a Medical Director means there is one senior clinician accountable for that line being held.

In practice, if a case is complicated, if a request is not clinically appropriate, or if something has not gone the way anyone hoped, it reaches the Medical Director. The role carries the authority to pause, decline or change a plan on clinical grounds.

A surgeon as well as a director

Mr Gorman still operates. That matters more than it might sound. The standards he sets are ones he works to himself, and the pathways he signs off are ones he uses with his own patients.

It also means clinical leadership at Transform comes from someone currently in theatre, not someone reviewing the work from a distance.
