Mr Kanagaraj Marimuthu

Mr Kanagaraj Marimuthu is an experienced Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgeon with more than 20 years of surgical experience. He specialises in benign upper gastrointestinal surgery, weight loss surgery and general surgery, helping patients achieve improved health and quality of life through advanced surgical treatment and personalised care.

Currently practising as a Consultant Surgeon at University Hospitals of North Midlands, Mr Marimuthu has also held consultant positions within other leading NHS organisations, including Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Surrey. Throughout his career, he has developed extensive expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques and has performed more than 4,000 operations.

Mr Marimuthu has particular expertise in laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery and gastric sleeve surgery. His commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care is reflected in his patient-focused approach, ensuring each individual receives tailored treatment and support throughout their surgical journey.

Dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice, Mr Marimuthu regularly attends specialist conferences, workshops and educational courses to remain up to date with the latest developments in bariatric and upper gastrointestinal surgery. Alongside his clinical work, Mr Marimuthu has contributed extensively to medical research and education. He is also passionate about supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals and currently serves as a Professional Development Tutor for students at Keele Medical School.
