Mr Paul Super

Mr Paul Super is a highly experienced Consultant Bariatric and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon with more than 20 years of experience as a consultant and over three decades working within UK hospitals. Originally from Hamilton, Scotland, he qualified in medicine in London in 1987 and has dedicated much of his career to helping patients achieve long-term weight loss and improved health through bariatric surgery.

Mr Super undertook specialist bariatric training in leading centres across Belgium and Austria and completed advanced endoscopic training in Hamburg and Strasbourg. These experiences helped further develop his expertise in bariatric surgery and gastric band procedures, enabling him to introduce and expand innovative surgical techniques within the UK.

Following his training in Europe, Mr Super established the bariatric service at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham. Over the following two decades, the service grew to become one of the largest bariatric centres in the country, providing laparoscopic weight loss surgery to NHS patients from across the Midlands and throughout the UK.

Throughout his career, Mr Super has performed more than 10,000 surgical procedures and continues to undertake over 200 laparoscopic gastric band procedures each year. In addition to his clinical work, he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham and regularly presents at national scientific meetings, contributing to the ongoing development of bariatric surgery and medical education.
