Mr Rajwinder Nijjar is a leading Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgeon with more than 20 years of surgical experience. He specialises in weight loss surgery, including gastric band surgery, gastric sleeve surgery and gastric bypass surgery, as well as a range of upper gastrointestinal procedures performed using advanced minimally invasive techniques.

After qualifying in medicine from the University of Birmingham, Mr Nijjar completed his surgical training across several NHS university hospitals in the West Midlands. He also gained additional experience in cardiothoracic surgery in Liverpool, further developing his technical expertise. Throughout his career, he has developed a particular interest in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and now performs the vast majority of his procedures using minimally invasive techniques, helping to support faster recovery and improved patient outcomes.

Committed to advancing both patient care and medical knowledge, Mr Nijjar has been actively involved in research throughout his career. He contributed to a collaborative study between the University of Birmingham and University College London that helped improve understanding of oesophageal cancer. He has also authored numerous publications and regularly presents at national and international conferences on his specialist areas of interest.

Alongside his clinical responsibilities, Mr Nijjar is passionate about education and training.
