ORTHOPAEDIC SCRUB LEAD & SCRUB PRACTITIONERS REQUIRED - Full-time, Part-time, Zero hours contract

We have excellent opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Orthopaedic/Trauma Scrub Lead to join our theatre team at ‘Burcot Hall Hospital’

Applicants should be NMC registered with a minimum 3 years experience within orthopaedics or trauma. Previous team leader or supervisory experience is essential.

Due to increased orthopaedic lists, we’re also seeking additional specialised orthopaedic scrub nurses to join the orthopaedic team. You will be a vital member of the operating room, responsible for maintaining a sterile field during surgical procedures and ensuring the seamless flow of instruments and supplies. Responsibilities:

Surgical Preparation: Prepare and organize the operating room, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are available and sterile.

Scrubbing In: Scrub in and assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sutures, and other supplies during procedures while maintaining a sterile field.

Instrument Care: Monitor and care for surgical instruments, ensuring proper handling, cleaning, and sterilization procedures are followed.

Collaboration: Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a smooth and efficient surgical process. Support and mentor other theatre colleagues and participate in an on-call rota system for any returns to theatre.

Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical experience, addressing any concerns or needs promptly.

We will consider applications for full , part time and bank employment. Applicants should be flexible in their availability and will be working on a rota basis which includes weekends.

Applicants should be Registered General Nurses with a valid and active NMC PIN and should be up to date with their BLS and ILS Certificates. Attention to detail and with effective communication skills to collaborate effectively, applicants should also have the ability to adapt to different surgical specialities and procedures.

Salary up to £42,000 based upon full time working and is indicative only. Rates offered will be subject to levels of experience. In addition a 30% enhancement is paid for weekend working.
