HOW MUCH IS A TUMMY TUCK IN THE UK?
What is a tummy tuck?
A tummy tuck is a cosmetic procedure designed to remove excess skin, loose skin and fat from the abdomen. It’s also known as an abdominoplasty, and is popular with people who have experienced significant weight loss or have been left with excess tummy skin due to pregnancy.
There are different types of tummy tuck, each using a different technique to help you achieve your desired results:
Full tummy tuck
- Most common type of tummy tuck
- Removes excess fat and skin from the upper and lower abdomen
- Can repair abdominal muscles post-weight loss and/or pregnancy
Mini tummy tuck
- Less invasive than full tummy tuck
- Usually requires just 1 incision
- Removes excess skin and fat from around the lower abdomen
Extended tummy tuck
- Similar to the full tummy tuck, but more suited to those who have lost a significant amount of weight
- Incisions are typically extended around the back to allow for more skin and fat to be removed
Fleur-de-lis tummy tuck
- Similar to a full tummy tuck, as it removes excess skin and fat from the upper and lower abdomen
- Includes a vertical incision that allows your surgeon to tighten up the skin from the sides as well as up and down
- Can repair abdominal muscles
What does the abdominoplasty procedure involve?
As a tummy tuck is a major procedure, you’ll be given general anaesthetic so that you’ll be asleep for the duration of the surgery.
The technique that your surgeon will use will depend on the type of tummy tuck that you’re having. For each type, your surgeon will make an incision across your tummy to remove excess fat and skin, and realign your abdominal muscles if necessary. They might also cut a new hole for your belly button before stitching it into place.
The incisions will be stitched and dressings applied to protect them.
Is tummy tuck surgery covered by health insurance plans?
Cosmetic fat removal surgery is not covered by health insurance providers.
Can I get a tummy tuck on the NHS?
A tummy tuck is not typically available on the NHS, as it tends to be for purely cosmetic reasons.

What our patients say
“If you were to compare me with the person I was before surgery, you’d barely recognise me! And that’s not just physically, it’s mentally and emotionally, too. I never realised how my body affected me before – even down to my body language, my posture, and the way I presented myself. I would draw the attention away from myself and my body, and now I live in fitted workout gear and crop tops!”

Trustpilot Review
“I had a great experience from the start, from pre-op to post-op. I looked at a few different places before deciding that I would go forward with Transform. My surgeon assistant really made me feel at ease and I felt she understood exactly what it was that I wanted. My surgeon, Dr Cheema, has done an amazing job with my tummy tuck and I would definitely recommend him. All of the staff at the hospital have been lovely, and the aftercare has been brilliant.”
