Varicose veins are enlarged, lumpy veins that can develop in the leg. They can be rather unsightly and cause you embarrassment about your appearance, but they can be safely be removed using one of our treatment techniques.
We offer three different methods of varicose vein removal. Our non-surgical options include Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA), which uses laser light to seal the varicose vein from the inside. The other non-surgical option we provide is Radiofrequency VNUS Closure. Similar to EVLA, it uses heat instead of a laser to seal the vein from the inside.
Our surgical option is called Vein Avulsion, where a small incision is made into the skin and the varicose veins are removed by our highly qualified surgeons.
The procedure will close off the unwanted vein, or remove it completely. Varicose veins can cause discomfort, so the benefit of having them removed is that any swelling you may be experiencing in the area is eliminated.
Once the vein is removed, you’ll be likely to experience improved circulation and feel better about the appearance of your legs, meaning that you’re happier wearing the clothes you want without worrying about your varicose vein/s being exposed.
The procedure involves minimal pain, and with our advanced technology, minimal scarring.
As with all medical aesthetic treatments, it’s important to weigh up the risks involved against the benefits that the treatment can bring. Your medical aesthetic practitioner will talk you through any risks and complications.
Varicose vein treatment is a low-risk procedure, but side effects may include scar tissue, sensitivity and mild pain.
Although varicose veins are usually harmless, you may feel that removing them and having an even skin tone would make you feel happier about your appearance.
Your varicose vein might be causing you discomfort while you’re trying to sleep, or you may have noticed it getting bigger. It may be bothering you if it’s stopping you from wearing particular clothes as you feel conscious about it being on show.
Our surgeon assistants can guide you through the removal procedure at your free consultation to see if it’s right for you.

We’re ready when you are
Your first appointment
The initial step will be to meet with your friendly and knowledgeable surgeon assistant. You’ll be able to talk to them about why you’re considering varicose vein removal, whether it’s right for you, the likely cost and finance options, and when you’d prefer to have the treatment. If you feel ready, we’ll then book you in for your free consultation with one of our consultant vascular surgeons.
Your treatment consultation
At your free consultation, your surgeon will ask you about the results you want to achieve. They’ll guide you through your varicose vein removal options to ensure you get the best results, and you can discuss every aspect of your treatment with no obligation to go ahead. Our surgeons are extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions you have. If you feel ready to proceed, we can book your treatment in for a date and time that suits you.
On the day of your procedure, you’ll have time to ask any last-minute questions before the treatment begins. If you’re having the surgical varicose vein removal option, you’ll be put under general or local anaesthetic so that you don’t feel anything throughout the procedure. Your expert surgeon will begin by making a small incision under the vein and removing it with a surgical hook. Your incision will be stitched up and a temporary dressing will be applied. The procedure will take around 1 hour.
If you’ve opted for the non-surgical treatment, we’ll use a laser to close off the vein from the inside, which means it will no longer be in use. The non-surgical treatment will take around 45 minutes to complete.
Once your procedure is finished, we’ll take you to your own private room to rest. You’ll generally be able to leave the clinic on the same day as your treatment. It’s normal to experience pain and swelling afterwards but this will subside during the following days. We’ll provide you with support stockings to help improve the circulation in your leg(s), and we advise you to wear these for 4 to 6 weeks post-treatment.
High quality aftercare is at the heart of what we do, so we’re here to support you. If you have any questions or concerns at all, you can contact our 24/7 helpline. You’ll be safe to continue with your regular activities after the procedure, but we’ll book a follow-up appointment with you to ensure that you’re recovering well.
