Dermaroller is a facial treatment that uses a micro-needling device to stimulate the deepest layers of the skin for resurfacing and smoothing. It’s a highly effective way of repairing damaged skin by regenerating the body’s reproduction of elastin and collagen.

Dermaroller is effective in treating sun damage, acne scarring, fine lines, cellulite, scar tissue, hyper-pigmentation, enlarged pores and stretch marks. Different depths of microneedles can be used for different skin concerns to get the best result from the treatment.

We’re all a work in progress

Dermaroller can give you a fresher, smoother texture and a healthy, younger looking appearance. The skin naturally repairs itself after the treatment, stimulating new skin cells.

Dermaroller can help repair and improve skin conditions such as acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, enlarged pores and sun damage. The treatment will increase the elasticity and suppleness of the skin resulting in a softer, smoother texture and appearance.

Let’s delve into the detail

As with all medical aesthetic treatments, it’s important to weigh up the risks involved against the benefits that the treatment can bring. Your medical aesthetic practitioner will talk you through all the risks and complications of the treatment.

You may experience slight bleeding during the treatment as the skin is being penetrated, as well as redness and sensitivity afterwards. As the skin continues to heal, it’s normal to experience flaking and peeling.

Ready to believe in the best you?

Dermaroller is suitable for most skin types and ages, and will help to completely resurface your skin. It’s ideal if you’d like a skin-tightening boost, or if you have deeper skin issues that can’t be enhanced with skincare products alone.

It’s important to note that if you are suffering with active acne, the treatment cannot be performed as it could spread bacteria from blemishes to other parts of the face. It’s also unsuitable for those with eczema and psoriasis.

Your aesthetic medical practitioner will guide you on whether you need a course of treatment or a single treatment depending on your skin concerns.

Dermaroller FAQs

More FAQs
How does dermaroller work?
Dermaroller work by penetrating the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate cell renewal. Once the skin has been treated, it will begin to naturally repair itself and new skin cells are created.
How much does dermaroller cost?
The cost of your dermaroller treatment will depend on whether you need a course of treatments or a single treatment. This can be discussed with our surgeon assistants at your initial consultation.
How long do the results of dermaroller last?
The effects of the initial treatment last, on average, between four to six weeks, but the amount of treatments needed and exact timeframe will depend on your skin concerns, age, and how your skin responds to the treatment.
How long does it take?
The topical anaesthetic cream will be applied 30 minutes prior to your treatment to take full effect, then the dermarolling will take around 30 minutes to complete.
Is dermaroller painful?
Topical anaesthetic is used to numb the skin prior to the treatment, but you will still be able to feel the slight prickly feeling of the microneedles across your face. Your skin will feel slightly sensitive following the treatment, but this is completely normal.
Who will perform the treatment?
At Transform, all cosmetic procedures are performed only by qualified Nurse practitioners. We have a carefully selected team of professional practitioners who work to the highest standards of cosmetic treatment and patient care.
How long does the Dermaroller treatment take?
The procedure usually takes around 30-45 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
Is Dermaroller treatment suitable for all skin types?
Micro-needling therapy is suitable for all skin types, but cannot be used if acne is present on the skin.
How can a Dermaroller treatment benefit the overall skin?
The micro-needling treatment is a method used for skin tightening; improving the skins texture and reducing stretch marks and visible scars.
Are there any risks?
Skin needling is minimally invasive, side effects are unlikely and healing is rapid. The instrument used is 100% sterile and single-use to ensure the highest standards of hygiene.
Is any aftercare required?
Immediately after the procedure, the treated skin will appear very red and may feel like sunburn after your treatment. This will settle down after a few hours, but it could take up to 24 hours. You can expect to return to normal daily activities in a couple of days.
Can Dermaroller be combined with other treatments?
Microdermabrasion is always recommended prior to treatment to rid and reduce a build of unwanted dead skin cells before having a Dermaroller procedure.nDermaroller works well in combination with other cosmetic treatments such as Juvederm or Botox anti-wrinkle treatment. Your practitioner can recommend the best combination of treatments for you to achieve the best results.
Can I spread the cost of treatment?
Yes, we offer a choice of two finance options. You can pay a deposit of just £500 and choose either 12 monthly interest-free payments or spreading the cost over two to five years.

Next steps

We're ready when you are

Your first appointment

The initial step will be meeting with your friendly and knowledgeable surgeon assistant. You’ll be able to talk to them about why you’re considering dermaroller, whether it’s right for you, the likely cost and finance options, and when you’d like to have the treatment. If you feel ready, we’ll then book you in for your free consultation with one of our medical aesthetic practitioners.

Your treatment consultation

At your free consultation, your professional practitioner or nurse will ask you about the results you want to achieve. They’ll guide you through your options with dermaroller and create a personal plan to ensure that you get the results you want. Your treatment plan will depend on the skin issues you’d like to address, and we’ll tell you what we can achieve.

You can discuss every aspect of your treatment with no obligation to go ahead. Our medical aesthetic practitioners and nurses are extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions you have. If you feel ready to proceed, we can book your treatment in for a date and time that suits you.

The treatment

On the day of your treatment you’ll have time to ask any last-minute questions before the treatment begins. Your medical aesthetic practitioner will begin by applying a numbing cream onto the face and neck, which will take around 30 minutes to take full effect. Then by working the dermaroller in a sequence across your face, the tiny microneedles will penetrate into the deeper layers.

You may experience some mild bleeding once the treatment is complete. Your practitioner will then apply a barrier cream to spark the skin’s repair mechanism. The tiny shafts made in your skin will repair themselves very quickly – often in the same day.

You’ll be able to leave the clinic as soon as your dermaroller treatment has been completed. You’ll experience redness, sensitivity and mild soreness, but this will subside in the next couple of days. We recommend using SPF 50 after the treatment to protect your skin from UV rays.

High quality aftercare is at the heart of what we do, so we’re here to support you. If you have any questions or concerns at all, you can contact our 24/7 helpline. During your consultation, our fully qualified practitioners will provide you with aftercare advice and recommendations for ongoing treatments or skincare products that will help to prolong the results.

We recommend avoiding heat treatments such as saunas, steam rooms and hot baths until the redness has subsided. We strongly advise wearing SPF 50 daily in between treatments and initially treating it like sunburn, as there will be mild sensitivity. Makeup must not be applied for 24 hours and you should avoid touching the face to prevent the spread of bacteria.
