An energetic, enthusiastic and hardworking surgeon with total commitment to producing optimum results for his patients, Mr Ahmad has been practicing medicine for over 35 years and has extensive experience in both the NHS and private sector. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1993. Following this appointment, he worked in the St. James’s University hospital in Leeds for three years, working in a very busy unit where he refined and developed his skills and experience in breast surgery. He carried out procedures for breast cancer patients there, as well as cosmetic procedures including breast augmentation and reduction.
Mr Ahmad then moved to Wales and worked in both the University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff and Singleton University Hospital, Swansea. Whilst at Cardiff, Mr Ahmad worked with internationally renowned breast surgery specialist Professor Robert Mansel. In Swansea, he undertook the All Wales Oncoplastic Fellowship in oncoplastic breast surgery, working in collaboration with plastic surgeons to consolidate and further develop reconstructive and cosmetic breast surgery techniques.
Mr Ahmad is dedicated to enhancing his skills. He has undertaken nearly 50 training courses and attended seminars in the UK and abroad. Although he has received training internationally, the majority of his time spent practicing medicine has been in the UK.
Mr Ahmad continues to participate in research, presentations, training and writing papers, allowing him to further his knowledge and share his expertise. He has published papers and articles for organisations and publications such as the International Journal of Surgery, the Welsh Surgical Society, the European Journal of Surgical Oncology and The Association for Cancer Surgery. He has carried out presentations in locations across the globe, including Sri Lanka and South Africa.
A passionate and highly skilled surgeon, Mr Ahmad has been responsible for training senior registrars in aesthetic and oncoplastic breast surgery and has trained colleagues in Pedicle TRAM breast reconstruction.
